Caught a UTI a few days ago. I've had 1, MAYBE 2 before, so I wasn't worried. However, earlier today during one of the countless times I've been making myself pee like crazy to flush it out, I just happened to notice that the toilet paper was pink. Sure enough, each time I go I'm so bloody it looks like I'm just starting my period. To say this is terrifying would be an understatement because I had no clue a UTI could do that. Watching videos like this is making me feel better that I'll fine since I'm swinging by urgent care tomorrow for a doctor to prescribe antibiotics to treat it and also prevent kidney infection.

This video is too scary. Kidney stones should be first on the list for men with gross hematuria and second for women. I'm 51 and had gross hematuria lasting 14 hours (brown-reddish urine, started after a 10 minutes jog). A few days later my GP who assured me that chances I had cancer as a never smoker are less than 5%, sent me for a low radiation CT scan, which has revealed a 3mm by 6mm uretal stone. I had it removed by URS, and went on with my life (with a low oxalate diet). I never had to do any further testing except for an ultrasound every 6 months to make sure no new stones are forming... If you're a never smoker and younger than 60, cancer should be the last thing on your mind if you have hematuria...

One day I started urinating blood. Next day, was in hospital with severe pain on my right side below the rib. CT-scan showed a 3 inch stone in urea tube. Stone usually has tiny spikes and was scraping on the urea wall lining causing bleeding which flow down to the bladder and excreted during pissing. Good news is it was just a small stone and not cancer. Bad news is this thing sitting in the urea can cause severe stomach pain. Its extremely painful. Doctor said eventually the stone will move down into the bladder and I will have to pissed it out. In the mean time, I'm on oxicotin, advil, flomax, and tylenol to control the pain. I hope this help someone.

Gross hematuria is so freaky. It's shocking. I had a culture and it came back with enteracoccus This time. Sensitive to ampicillin. About 6 months ago I had klebsiella and had to go to the hospital for IVs because I was resistant to all oral antibiotics for it. I'm 71 and I'm freaking out. This time I had pink urine for about a week and finally went in when I got there it was 150 cells of red blood. I've been on amoxicillin for one day and I'm still having slight bleeding and a low temp of 99. I'm really scared that I have cancer how can those bacterias get into my urethra when they're supposedly from the bowels. I try to be very careful and clean. I'm wondering if the bidet I use is causing this my splashing. Thank you for your time. That was a great presentation it was clear and concise

You missed overstretched bladder causing urinary tract infections (holding urine too long , not fully evacuating) and bathroom habits (sitting and relaxing)

@@minaandchara4291 no if there’s blood in the urine you must go to the doctors and they have to check your kidneys too. If they determine it’s a urinary tract infection they will give you antibiotics, but if you have blood in your urine you must go to the doctor. If your bladder is overstretched from holding your urine , it makes urinary tract infections common . If you are young you’re bladder can return to a normal state, the older you get is like overstretching a rubber band event it loses shape if you are always holding your urine . If you have to wait a few hours to see a doctor you can drink (unsweetened) cranberry juice . NO sugar for bacteria to feed on . Just unsweetened it helps prevent bacteria from implanting itself in hiding places , but you need antibiotics to treat so it doesn’t damage kidneys. And then make sure that you never hold urine and make sure to always empty your bladder fully by not rushing and just relaxing or double voiding when you go. Good luck you . Stay healthy. An overstretching of the bladder is not a dangerous thing if that’s what your asking . It depends on age how much it returns to normal shape .

Every so often--maybe once a week or less often--my first pee in the morning is dark orange. This started 2 years ago. I went through those tests and doctor found no cause. Very concerning. I will probably wait a few months then go back to see another urologist at the same office.

Hi Dr, thanks for the informative video, I have gross hematuria average 6-10 , I have noticed from the last 4 years, I have done cytology ,CT scan, MRI, CT scan urogram, ultrasound many times, but couldn’t find anything, I feel pain in my left abdomen which comes and go away time to time.

Thanks for the valuable information. I have blood in the urine with a large prostate. I went the the urologist gave a sample of urine to be tested. I was told to come back in two weeks to find the results. I hope its only an infection.

I'd like to know what's causing me to have been peeing blood since 1984 (as far as I have known about it. Was 13 at the time). Every time I would do a physical, within a few days, I'd have to pee in 2 jars and bring them to the lab. Water consumption isn't an issue (2+ gallons a day). I would hear NO response from any of my physicians over the 40 years that I have known of this issue.

Thank you doctor for explaining. My urine has been light brown colour for about a week, This happened after I took Cocola once, and thereafter my urine has become light brown, earlier it was pure white. I also take some medicines for Angina. and diabetese. I am going to test my urine today.

Hi, I’m a new fan of your videos while researching kidney stone remedies. I recently had my first and hopefully last kidney stone a few weeks ago. I had visible blood in urine and fortunately passed it on my own without too much pain in a week and a half. I had a CT scan in an er which picked up the kidney stone but everything else was normal. My new urologist wants me to do a cystoscopy since I put in my patient history form that my uncle had bladder cancer a few months ago even though the visible blood in my urine was due to a kidney stone. I’m in my 30s with no major health issues and no risk factors for bladder cancer. I even did a urinalysis which showed no hematuria or hemoglobin in urine a few days after the stone passed. This procedure seems very invasive and freaks me out. Does this procedure seem unnecessary?

Had BPH diagnosed in February 2019 and TURP was performed which gave me reliefs till July of 2021 when the tissues started regrowing. Had a laser TURP procedure performed but the hematuria was now more prevalent and at times it accompanied with clots. Different Urologists did cystoscopies, ultrasound, CT and MRI to determine the cause or roots of the hematuria and nothing was found. Had another cystoscopy last week and the bleeding started a few days after the procedure, and I am really frustrated and worried. Another ultrasound is scheduled in a few weeks time. Anyone had this experience at all after TURP?

Wow your story is just like mine. Laser in 2003 did nothing for me. Turp in later in 2003 benign 10 grams . Another turp in 2008 53 grams benign . The doctor never saw me in the recovery room. I have had over 20 cystoscopes all of them hurt no help. Now during a bowel movement i have blood. I DO NOT TRUST DOCTERS i have been to 8!!!!

I was hoping for some visualsWhat it looks like other thandrops bloodWhen I pee it's layered and bottom layers very red. It doesn't look bloody more rusty. It's just red and yellow on top.

My teen son had this. They said it was an overstretched bladder from holding urine during video gaming . They suggested he sit when peeing relax and allow the bladder to fully empty. Holding your urine stretch’s the bladder like a balloon as you get older and continue the bladder never returns to normal size. Sit when you pee, relax so you can fully void. My son ended up frequently having to use the bathroom to pee because of overstretching even when the bladder was not full. The doctor said set a timer and go sit on the toilet every 3 hours even if you don’t feel the urge . It’s scary I know , but not doing it now can harm the kidneys. My son was prescribed antibiotics because urinary tract infections (blood) does not resolve itself, then you have to alter you urine habits. As a mom the blood terrified me and the first doctor was dismissive at the hospital. There are better doctors who take time and explain prevention. Best wishes . If there is blood in your urine you must go to another doctor. If there is no longer . Follow the sitting habit , never hold your urine , never rush the stream. Allow to fully empty and relax while going .

@@sphanationsphanation2426 my son holds it like a camel at school too. The bladder is like a balloon and it can get stretched out. Makes sure not to hold it in anymore. My son was pretty extreme with the video games too…. Not wanting to take a break and walk downstairs to use the bathroom. With “careful good “habits when young the bladder will go back to normal shape. After a looong time of bad habits or age the bladder never regains its elasticity to shrink again. It’s easy to lapse back into old habits. Best to you. I know how scary it can be. ..especially when doctors don’t take time to explain or suggest ways to avoid it happening again. I may have been more scared then my son seeing drops of blood on the floor 😫 ... But no one reading this should self diagnose. Always visit a doctor and ask questions.

Hey, last week, I was pissing blood, red like tomato juice for three days...I went to the hospital, spent hours going over X rays and things, still feeling nothing...then piss went brown, then yellow as normal...seem nothing important happened...try to figure that shit!
