11 Counting Backwards Activities - Easy, Medium & HARD!

There are millions of resources out there that help children count forwards. But what about counting backwards?!
In the last ten years I've tried out more than 100 counting backwards activities. I've found that you teach children this skill best if you start easy, move onto medium difficulty games, and lastly try HARD!
I show you my favourite 11 counting backwards games. All are easy, effective, and...they work!

Do you have any rough estimates for when children should start being able to count backwards?

Good question! I would say they should be really comfortable counting forwards first. They should be able to count confidently and accurately past at least 10, and probably close to 20. Then you can start with the counting backwards (so they don't get confused). Somewhere between the age of 3 and a half and 5 is the time to start for most children
