What happens If you don't install crosstalk branding or clear modules? How can We still setup out phones?

I went through your install steps FreePBX 101 and my FreePBX server doesn't have clearlydevices. Am I missing something?

I am finding these videos immensely helpful but I have a question. I don't believe we have our own FQDN. Do we need one to complete this setup (you have mentioned it may times in all the videos I have watched) If so how do I go about getting one. I have googled and still have no idea about this. Our IT guy is a volunteer (we're a church) and told me we just use IP addresses and seemed to want to leave it at that.

If you are setting up the PBX onsite a STATIC IP address will be sufficient. If you are setting it up on a cloud server like Vultr or DigitalOcean a FQDN is useful in case your IP address changes. If you do need to set one up Amazon Route 53 is a fairly simple and cheap option. Never tie your domain registration to your web hosting provider.

### FreePBX v16 Note - Clearly Devices - Module Layout Creation Fails ### Currently, in FreePBX v16 (until patched upstream), adding additional Module Layouts will fail under normal circumstances without additional steps. FreePBX v16 no longer pulls in settings from /var/www/html/admin/.htaccess or /var/www/html/admin/.user.ini. This is supposed to be getting patch upstream but it hasn't been seen as rolled out yet. For now you can edit max_input_vars in /etc/php.ini, that's covered at the bottom of this wiki. kb.clearlyip.com/phones/Installing-the-FreePBX-Module.html Relevant text from wiki page: -- Fix php.ini Max Inputs for FreePBX 16 NOTE: When installing Clearly Devices on FreePBX 16 based systems you need to manually bump the "max_input_vars" from 1000 to 5000 in /etc/php.ini and then restart apache via "systemctl restart httpd.service" You can do this via the SSH CLI with the commands below. # sed -i 's/max_input_vars = 1000/max_input_vars = 5000/' /etc/php.ini # systemctl restart httpd.service
