My biggest scare isn’t the cost. It’s those cringing thumbnails Fernando keeps making. He isn’t part of the subject of the video yet feels the need to display himself every single time. I rather have the thumbnails from zollotech. His thumbnails are spot on on the subject of the video.

The dealbreaker for me is if i cannot use my current Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil 2 on the new iPad model, im not purchasing it as bad as i would love to. I dont see any need for either of those products to be changed and no reason they shouldn’t be compatible aside from greed

Apple Pencil 3 needs to have a second use at the other end that you can set. Like a rubber on a normal pencil. That way you can turn it and use a rubber or you can keep scribble on and use the other end for scrolling etc

This is a good idea. I like the idea of having a rubber tip so you could use it on a desk like a separate mouse as well. Also, adding some type of scrolling/clicking gesture in the flat sensor area of the pencil would be wonderful!

I bought a rubber tip for my gen 1 apple pencil for exactly what you describe. I prefer to use the rubber side for browsing so I don't mess up the pen tip. And in Procreate you can set it to act as an eraser.

iPad Pro actually first came in 32GB model! The original 2015 model came in 32GB or the next storage tier was 128GB which I went for and I'm still running today. Very much on need of an upgrade and the rumoured 12.9" iPad Air would be perfect for me as a musician.

@@h1mangshu after 8 years it still handles web browsing, email KZfaq etc absolutely fine. I use it with forScore to display sheet music, run backing tracks and it's still rock solid! I can only imagine the M series iPads will hold up even better over time.

Yes, and filling 32 GB turns out to be very easy. It's why I upgraded my first gen iPad Pro to 2nd gen ... the replacement cost about $1000 and came with 512 GB. That 2nd gen 12.9 inch iPad Pro is going strong in everything except battery performance.

Yes, it’s pushing the product out of the mainstream and into a bit of a niche, like Apple Watch is. The problem with that is that with a smaller user base, app developers have less incentive to invest energy in things like a UI that suits the iPad, and running an AP that was really developed with a desktop or laptop in mind just always feels clunky. (To see what I mean, try working with excel for iPad. It works in theory but is crazy-making.)

Same. I got it renewed from Amazon for £380 and it's an incredible device. Blazingly fast, which for me means that the M3 is very overkill and you simply don't need that much power in an iPad considering the price.

Thinking about it. I have the 2016 pro, 128G. Which means the iOS version has stopped updating @16.4. But with 3 other iPads of later versions, 2 iMacs and a MacBook Pro, I haven’t had to worry about it’s limitations. I would like to eliminate the need for lightning cables and improve media resolution but the predicted $1800 cost just doesn’t make sense given the equipment I already have. I video edit on my MacBook Pro 16in M1. However, the MacBook is the latest version of the various products. Both iMac are no longer version updating. Guess I need to start really thinking about what each device brings to the table.

I’ve got a M1 iPad Pro and honestly, I would hate a notch and smaller bezels. It’s a tablet so bezels are good. Storage is huge at 128gb, screen is huge and perfect, everything is already perfect. I guess they need to upgrade something but they should just wait and upgrade it to M3 and do a minor spec upgrade. Nobody wants it to cost more for non-features.

I have a lot of oled devices as well as the mini LED in the iPad, and it’s not that much different. They both have blooming, the oled is just a little less. It is only really noticeable in dark rooms when I have the brightness up high. With movies it’s totally fine unless it’s a bright subtitle on a black background. So, no, it doesn’t really bother me at all.

I'm sure the new screen is very, very, nice. But, until Apple improves iOS to really take advantage of the improved performance and functionality I may stick with my M1 12.9" Pro and invest in a MacBook (given the prices of the new iPad Pro that you predict). I do love my iPad M1. I'd like to see a dual OS/iOS running on the iPad Pro. And at the very least the ability to have several user accounts.

@@Bambotb My only dislike with my current M1 iPad 12.9” is the Magic Keyboard’s dinky trackpad, and lack of keyboard control keys. If I did add a MacBook it would be a MacBook Air. I certainly could keep to an M1 or M2 chip.

No way I’m paying that ridiculous amount of money for just the new hardware and keeping the same OS. Now, if that price includes a new, stable and reliable full MacOS-like OS, well then I might just consider it (I love the iPad concept- its versatility). I’ll wait and see. If they keep same iPadOS (limited and buggy), then it’s going to be “adiós” for me (after about four years of solid iPad-only use at work and at home).

On top of everything said in the video, I really, really wish that the new iPad Pro would have Qi2 wireless charging, and also multi 10Gbits/s, low latency wireless docking for I/O (ex: 802.11ay) but I doubt it will be the case :(… On top of OLED, wireless charging is my biggest wish as it will considerably improve user experience by not having to plug/unplug a cable, only need to stick the iPad to a wireless charging dock… I also doubt it will have WIFI 7, it will likely stick to WIFI 6E, and upgrade at the next generation…

@@izzydrycow I would much prefer a multi 10Gbits/s and low latency 60Ghz WiGig (802.11ay) wireless dock with all the external I/O (USB-C, Ethernet, HDMI,…) that would connect wirelessly to the Apple device, as it could in theory be used for all Apple products (iMac, MacBook, iPad and iPhone). It could be a small rounded shaped device, which could be powered by Qi2 10W reverse wireless charging and a small integrated battery as buffer. In theory, I would think that Apple has largely enough resources to develop such device, with designing a dedicated low power in TSMC N3E or Intel Foundries 18A node…

I'm from Malaysia and right now ipad pro M2 starting cost at RM3899, if the ipad pro 2024 release the exact price u stated it will cost us at starting price of RM7100!! That is way expensive considering the upgrades are so minimal.

I have a 14” M2 MacBook Pro and an IPad Mini 6 that together meet all my business needs. Honestly, with those prices I can’t see me ever getting a new IPad Pro.

I recently upgraded from my 2017 10.5” iPad Pro to the 2021 11” iPad Pro. Refurbished, and that is enough for me for a long time. Appl’s storage prices are ridiculous.

I have the 12.9 M1 that I got new about a year after it was introduced for 900$, their is no way I would buy a newer version of this for half again or almost double what I paid for my M1 when their are still the limitations of iPad OS. I would simply go back to where I began with Apple and that would be the iPad Air, actually the iPad Mini has become my most important device other than my phone

Just based on the cost alone; I’m glad I bought my iPad Pro 12.9 model from. 2022, during Thanksgiving 2023 Apple Event. If the base model of 128 GB; goes to 256GB, $700 expected increase is too steep. I was able to get the 2nd Gen Apple Pencil & current Magic Keyboard; plus Apple gift cards for buying from Apple. Down the line I’d considering upgrading, but the new specs won’t be enough to make me wish that I had waited 🤔🥴😮😳

I’m still more than happy with my 12.9 inch M1 iPad Pro. No need to upgrade unless the new ones have a completely revamped software or new OS that the M1 nor M2 can’t have.

iPad OS is the biggest issue and not hardware. Apple needs to fix the OS but won’t as they fear cannibalising laptop sales.

It really depends on the user. I have Ipad Air and use it without case in portrait mode a lot. For me it's the best way to consume internet media. In my opinion using keyboard on ipad makes it worse macbook.

I can be productive with the older ipads as well . Dosen't need to have the latest and greatest shiny device to get things done. Would rather spend more money on faster macbook pros than a expensive ipad which is still not perfect with FCP , logic prox etc.
