I know booting up the 3ds is a hard thing to do in the age of the switch, but I honestly think Trio of Towns is my favorite in the series that I have played. I honestly feel like if they were ever to do another port or remake that ToT is the most deserving. It's amazing how well written each of the characters were in spite of the huge cast. Genuinely gave me a few warm-fuzzies. And I'm a cold bastard.

Never realized that Harvest Moon DS/Cute was a divisive game. I tend to view it favorably since it's the game I'm most nostalgic about and had a lot of fun with it. I would like to collect all the Harvest Moon games one day and play them all. One of my personal favorite Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons game would have to be Trio of Towns. All of the characters are really charming, the gameplay is a lot of fun, and in my opinion has some of the best writing and story in the series. I hope it gets a port or a remaster one day since I love it a lot.

My top 3 would be: 1: Animal Parade. 2: Harvest Moon 64. 3: SOS Mineral Town. Animal Parade is just so much fun! I hope you enjoy it. For me it just beats out 64 only because its bigger with more things to do and your children grow up to be big kids and have tons of cute events with other ppl’s kids its adorable. Also The Wizard… for all of you who have played it I don’t to need explain this guy. Favorite bachelor in the franchise hands down.

I was really tripped out at the end of the video where I thought to myself "something in their look has changed" only to go back and see that you had shaved for the final clip 😂 You came up on my KZfaq frontpage of suggested videos with your Final Fantasy for Switch video so I watched both it and this one, and I really enjoyed both! I've only played Harvest Moon for the SNES & absolutely loved it back in the day, but when I tried to replay it a couple of years ago it didn't hold up as well as I had hoped. I've always wanted to try the N64 version, and now I really want to. Definitely one I am going to keep to be looking for when I am out game chasing!

I definitely agree with everything you said. It's just that gaming is such an experience that sometimes we end up enjoying titles that aren't that good. I would place harvest moon from the super Nintendo at the 5th place because it was my first on the series and I also have such good memories of summers at my cousin's from that time. Harvest moon a wonderful life is definitely my second favorite as it has that time passing feeling that I loved. Harvest moon animal parade is my fourth. My first is friends of mineral town as it was my first portable experience. My third would be harvest moon 64! 🥰

I LOVE Magical Melody!! It seriously deserves a remake. Also Animal Parade &/or Tree of Tranquility would be welcome remakes too! ~ I'm curious, you mentioned HM DS had a tone that rubbed you the wrong way, I haven't played a lot of HM DS and it was years ago when that was so I'm curious what is it about the tone that is off-putting?

The wii Harvest Moon's would definitely be up there for me, I think Tree of Tranquility might honestly be one of my favorite games period, aside from being my favorite HM. It has major nostalgia factor for me, and upon a replay, it held up better than Animal Parade (I have yet to finish that replay though). From the DS era I would probably go with Island of Happiness, and honestly the GameCube games are tied for me. I feel like I'd have to break my list up by era because I honestly don't hate or even dislike any of the games 😅 oh, and honorable mention to the first HM I ever played, which was Save the Homeland. It's such an amazingly different game from the rest of the series, it's hard to judge it alongside the rest!

I highly recommend you give Trio of Towns a try. I think you would not only like it, but you might end up adding this one as one of your top 3! (Btw, HM64 was also the first game I played from the series!)

I really enjoyed Magical Melody, it would be it my top 3 also. I would put A wonderful at number 1 and Doraemon: Story of Seasons at number 3

I love Trio of Towns on the 3DS. That is my favorite in the series. Really enjoyed Story of Seasons for the 3DS, as well. And right now SoS A Wonderful Life is my favorite Switch game so far.

There is certainly a point where the games became Harvest Moon: The Eternal Tutorial series. I never minded growing up, but those titles are much harder to go back to vs the older ones now. We like being yeeted into a game with no direction. 😃 Top three: 1 - AWL. It has the best concepts. Could they be expanded on and executed better? Sure. But can I go anywhere else to see my kid grow into an adult and influence his career or watch the village grow old? Nope. Not a single game since its release. That's 20 years of AWL being one of its kind. 2.Back to Nature. It is just really cozy and has just the right pacing. I prefer the games with slower clocks. You can always go to bed early if you run out of stuff to do, but you can't smush more in with a fast clock. Plus it has just the right tone of occasional serious cutscenes. I hate how the games have become so perpetually happy. And rivals! (Down with fomt because no ability to have puppies!!! 😋) 3. Animal Parade. It actually made me enjoy mining for once. A true feat. The real feature is the family system. It is the closest I've gotten to something like AWL and it speaks volumes I think that it was the og creator's last game. Plus the rivals are fantastic, with rival kids that eventually have cutscenes of their own. The games really lost something after rivals were removed.

What about Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar or Harvest Moon Tales of Two Towns? I feel like these two is like very underated but actually pretty good too. I hope you could discuss about it~

My top 3 are: 1. A Wonderful Life 2. Animal Parade 3. Save The Homeland (Playstation game) I loved how you could play your characters entire like in AWL (there's more I love, but trying to keep this short). AP is just amazing. I love the town. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the mine! Best mining in any HM\SoS to date. StH is the first HM game I played. It's very short. You only play 1 year, but there are quite a few paths you can take to save the town. It really is amazing.

Not going to lie I’ve only played two of the games in the series but since I liked the characters in a wonderful life but I liked the updated farming in olive town. I think with the updated farming in the upcoming remake of a wonderful life. It could be my favourite. The others like harvest moon 64 are probably good to but I don’t have a n64 to play it and it hasn’t been put on the switch online expansion pass. Anyway I enjoyed listening to your opinions.

I had a Nintendo64 but I've never managed to play Harvest Moon 64. However, the first Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon game I've ever played was Harvest Moon: Back to Nature, and it was actually a very well-received game for PlayStation & quite popular in my country back in the days. It wasn't until years later that I learned of HM64, and realizing that all of the characters in HM:BtN actually came first in HM64 with different roles, family sets & backgrounds, it blew my mind. Things like Jeff & Elli being a couple was just wrong in my head, but I guess that's only because I knew HM:BtN first 😅. I'm kinda glad they made HM:BtN to be the template of subsequent remakes/remasters though (Friends of Mineral Town ports), because I'm more familiar with that version.

I'm a huuuge harvest moon fan so much that i met my boyfriend because of harvest moon, my first hm game was hm 2 gbc. I've played i think all the games even the the one on psp (a futuristic harvest moon). Whatever had "harvest moon" written on it i'd buy. The only harvest moon game i have not played is hm 64. I would really like to play it since i hear everyone saying it's one of the best and i think that it may be from what i've heard. Do you think a remake of hm 64 would be a good idea? Because fomt amd awl are done so i really hope they make a remake of hm 64 in the future so i get to experience it on a newer console that would be great. BTW love your channel.

I couldn't play Magical Melody. The Controls were so bad, that I really couldn't. The Best HM for me is Tree of Tranqulity. I love it. The Characters, the Story. The little Puzzles to solve. Its fascinating :)

i played Harvest Moon DS with my 2 brothers simultaneosly and i remember that i had a lot of fun but the game has so many bugs and exploits. and i remember one of my brothers planting trees in the cellar and because they never fully grown he couldn't get rid of them :D My top 3 1. Friends of mineratown - nostalgia it was my first Harvest Moon and one of my first videogames in general 2. tales of two towns - god i love the game so much even though it is really slow at times 3. Trio of towns - didn't play it that much but i really liked the setting and the characters. if i would include Rune Factory then Rune Factory 4 would probably my number 1.

My top 3: friends of mineral town. It was my first and is too this day still my favorite. For some reason I wasn't much of a fan for the remake. After that is tree of tranquility. Absolutely loved all the characters in it and the story. I wanted to try and play animal parade as well sense I loved tot so much but the days go so long in the game and I don't have as much free time anymore for it. The last would be story of seasons the first game with that title. It was after trying a lot of the games and just not finding a lot of magic in them for awhile. The moment I played this one I was hooked though. I would spend hours on it choosing to play it over sleep. Gave me almost the same feeling of playing fomt again.

1. Harvest Moon Ds Cute So many things about this game made me want to 100% it. It may have been the same characters, but damn was it fun and had so many options. Its was like Mineral Town and AWL had a baby and that baby took steroids. Made respect for this game. 2. Mineral Town The Goat. Needs o no intro. No remake. just og. 3. Tree of tranquillity/Animal Parade I love these both...similarly. ToT was special. It was different in style and great in so many ways. It was so cool how you couldn't beat the story until...like Fall of Year 2 and it felt like it was just...cozy and well put together. Animal Parade failed so bad by making empty space everywhere and running to town was dumb, and Jin didn't have a dead wife anymore? like...Anyway. What Animal Parade did well was adding two kids and candidates and lots of little improvements that made it sweet. But...I legit bet the game Summer 20th of Year 1. What? Too soon. They didn't pace it well at all. If these had both been one game, it might have been better then Mineral Town. 4. Harvest Moon AWL My first ever Harvest Moon game, so many memories, so much trauma. This is a family treasure. Our whole family was straight bugging when we got a bad end at the funeral. Not gonna lie, shouldnt have broke that kids stick. Real ones know. It wasn't the game I played most, but it is the game that entranced me the most. .... No other Harevst Moon Games enter the realm of "good" to me. The others are...ok...tolerable. But not classics. Magical Melody was the worst purchase of my life. Sunshine Island and Island of Happiness left me visibly angry with life. I didn't beat them. New Beginning...legit, stopped playing 1 hour in. Why are there no people in this town. F this. Worst experience I've ever had in Harvest Moon. I kind of tapered off and never bought or played, Bazaar, Trio of Towns, or Twin Towns OR Olive Town and the first SoS. Couldn't bring myself to keep going after New Beginning. It was truly the end. But, I may return when time permits. These games are...time swallowers. Jeeez.

I agree with your ranking hm64 is peak HM since you still have the really mature scenarios, fast gameplay and lots of content. I wish they will remake magical melody like a wonderful life. What I would change is faster gameplay, change the baby big butt male protagonist and maybe change the artstyle a little bit make it less chibi.

My top 3 story of seasons games that i played so far but one is the best game & two games need more improved & make more content & i just played Story of Seasons friends of mineral town recently but I did enjoy the game but repeated dialogue are giving me a headache & I stopped playing it & go back playing olive town to ease myself from a headache I’m getting recently but I hope marvelous will add new Dialogue in Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town in the future year after finishing remaking Story of Seasons A Wonderful Life in 2023 1. My favorite are: 1. Magical Melody- Buying all the land... building and growing whatever you want on it. The best characters, and each had unique and charming jobs/homes. The Notes gave you like alternate goals/tasks. It did everything perfectly imo. I just want way more crops and animal species, maybe 100 notes. Also it has Gwen

1) HM64. I feel like it got the pacing just right. There is a deadline but you can play beyond it so you can choose to play it casually or min-max efficiency. The cast is incredibly fleshed out, and the rival marriages were really fun to see. It's my most played N64 game by a wide margin and...maybe my favorite game of all time??? 2) HM SNES. Is the lack of any back back at all infuriating beyond belief and cause me to drop soooo many items? Yes. Are the characters really flat and boring compared to later games? Also Yes. But I was the first game in the series I ever played and and the nostalgia it's graphics and music brings me is too strong to ignore. Plus I still find the gameplay loop really fun. 3)FoMT. Begrudgingly I admit that from an over all gameplay experience perspective, this might objectively be the best game in the series? There is part of me though that is kind of bitter that it's the BTN/Mineral Town versions of these characters that Marvelous has decided to bring back again and again.

I have not played the Super Nintendo, the 64, or any of the game boy games, so my list is from "newer" ones. My number one is Magical Melody, two is A New beginning, three is Pioneers of Olive Town, four is Tale of Two Towns, and five is Trio of Towns. I actually really like how they show designs of the different cultures in Tale of Two Towns and in Trio of Towns, but both games have each town having different holidays/events, so it makes it a little difficult to try to witness all of them, which is why they are ranked a little lower. I would like to give It's a Wonderful Life an honorable mention, because I love that your kids can grow up and don't just stay babies. However, I don't like the chapter system and having to get married by a certain time; I prefer to get my farm how I want it first and then work on love relationships, later.

Animal Parade (I love the long story and the many festivals and the many marriage candidates and that the rivals can have a wedding and child too, there's just so much to do, I love it!) 2. Back to nature (It was my first Harvest moon ever and I'm just so nostalgic over it) 3. A wonderful life (It could be my favourite, if you had more to do. So I'm really looking forward to the remake) 4. Friends of Mineral town remake (for me a nostalgic trip to back to nature, but some parts that they could've done better and they took out the rival marriage from the original and that's what I really hate about it) 5. Harvest Moon GB/ 2 GBC/ 3 GBC (I don't really remember which one I played as a child, but I remember, that I really liked it) 6. The tale of two towns (I know I played it, but I other than that I don't really have any memories about it. Seems like it didn't catched me)

Since I only played the two recent Nintendo Switch games, I'd say SoS Friends of Mineral Town and Piooners of Olive Town are pretty much the opposite of each other 🤔 One has portraits and the other doesn't... one has the customizable farm and the other doesn't... one the characters/ bachelors are well explored and the other, not that much. At the end of the day, i would say that Pioneers of Olive town has a better playability, with all the collectables and the big farm and the Friends of Mineral Town is good for the solid characters

I’m somewhat new to the series and have played *most* of these titles just this year. But from what I’ve played, here is my ranking: 1. Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town 2. A Wonderful Life 3. Back to Nature 4. Trio of Towns 5. Pioneers of Olive Town 6. Island of Happiness I bought Magical Melody and Animal Parade this year as well, but haven’t gotten around to playing them yet.

I found Magical Melody and tried playing it and… I hate how SMALL your screen is, the map isn’t detailed, so I just can’t find anything; and the Spring Song has to be one of the most obnoxious of the titles I’ve played (and I find HM/SoS music pretty MEH on average, but this made me want to play with the volume off), and My GOD the load times. Usually not something I’m bothered by but this? With how little area there was per screen and how Tightly Zoomed In it was?! And the graphics were…just. Too chibi, too primary colors, but also very dark and muddy?! Yeah. Just. Not a fan. I was honestly anticipating a different art style than AWL but similar graphics and music quality (and honestly the best music in the series, and having the Valley not constantly blasting your ears with Theme Music but each House had its own Theme was. So good), and gameplay that was closer to how the other titles played in terms of intuitiveness and mechanics, and Having Things Zoomed Out So I Can See What I’m Doing (and not get lost because I’m not given a fighting chance to see the layout of things, not because the actual World is big.) So…the games I played? 1) Trio of Towns (I just wish I could be sapphic and the Crossroads was bigger for exploring; but the towns are decently sized and your farm is HUGE so…it’s mostly me just missing how fun AWL and IoH and especially ToTT were to explore in my spare time. Also getting to have an Army Of Cats do my herding and foraging for me is hilarious and amazing. And props to “Queen Sized Bed for Birth Control.” That’s just. Hilarious XD) 2) AWL (I personally find the actual fishing, foraging/exploration, and farming/ranching to be pretty comforting…buuuut the marriage system utterly sucks on like. Every single point. I admittedly just ignore my spouse and child and Takakura in favor of exploration and farming half the time, especially since my kid is stuck on art no matter what I do so. I’ll just use cheatcodes so I can snuggle cows and experiment with crops THANKS.) 3) Island of Happiness (by far my favorite set of marriage candidates and they actually got to marry and have kids too, and unlocking different areas and foraging was pretty fun. Ranking it this low because I’m still salty about how impossible it is to get the materials required for machines and jewelry, seeds beyond the standard set, and sheep. It’s all set behind invisible requirements or demands you have access to things that…you can’t have access to without XYZ and that’s just not fun to me. And the villagers sass you for not participating when they didn’t sell the stuff you needed to participate?? Their Favorite Items take longer to obtain than just nudging up their affection with mediocre gifts for most of them?!) 4) Tale of Two Towns (has a lot of great ideas, like pets doing your animal herding, two towns to explore that specialized in different items to sell, a HUGE mountain to explore, and fiiinaallyyyy getting to pick up branches and rocks to convert into materials later (and if you don’t convert it Right Then it just clogs everything up…) But, I don’t really care for how Divided what you get to do is by Town, and there’s almost no incentive to pick the japanese-themed farming town at all unless you like harvest festivals and its aesthetics. And the storage/freshness system is particularly bad. It’s almost better to not save your foraging and crops at all and just cheat the cooking festivals by submitting restaurant food. And…I really just found the cast kinda…bland? It was neat we could hang out or go on dates but their personalities and triggered love events were just…boring. So, great ideas, but I think it Crawled so ToT could Run.) 5) Magical Melody (see above complaints. The only HM/SoS game I bought that I just…didn’t ever play again after the initial booting up. If the View Area + Map weren’t so small or undetailed, animations so jerky it made me motion sick, and music so damn obnoxious I MIGHT’VE given it a chance to see if I could get used to its controls and see if the Cast were charming enough to make up for things but. Bleh. I’d need a lot of patience, and a lot of gingerale, and probably mute the darn soundtrack and sound effects.)
