First I want to thank Everett's family for inviting me, a stranger, into their home to help others. Thank you so much. Everett has Down syndrome. He was born almost 2 months premature. He had corrective heart surgery and has a g-tube. He is also absolutely adorable. Join me as I follow Everett over time providing pediatric physical therapy treatment recommendations to help him get stronger, faster, and more mobile. I first met him when he was 11.5 months old. I am so excited to see him grow and change over time.
These videos are not to replace in-person physical therapy. Individualized therapy is critical for a child's success. Please do not try these with your child if your child has other risk factors or has skills, strengths, or weaknesses significantly different from Everett. My email address is amysturkey@gmail.com. My website is: www.pediatricPTexercises.com. Please remember, I am unable to provide treatment recommendations for a child I have not personally evaluated. You will need to find a local therapist for recommendations specific to your child.
These videos may be more helpful seen in order as I perform easier treatment techniques first. Here is the link to his playlist:
• Pediatric Physical The...
I also have available 6 children's educational books addressing Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety, and Encopresis and Enuresis. I now also have 3 professional books "Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises for the Hips," "Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises for the Knees, and "Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises for the Ankles." If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me at amysturkey@gmail.com. Please note: I cannot provide treatment suggestions for a child I have not personally evaluated.
I am so honored to have people from all over the world watch my videos. I have reviewed and corrected the closed captions for this video so that you might understand what I am saying even if you don't speak English. I hope the directions below are helpful to you.
To turn on Captions, click CC in the bottom or top right corner of the video
To choose a different caption language:
At the bottom right, click Settings. It looks like a wheel.
Click Subtitles/CC.
Select a language.
If the language isn't listed when you click Subtitles/CC:
Click Auto-translate.
Select a language.
Of course, if the captions are in the way of viewing the details in the video, you can always turn them off in the bottom or top right-hand corner of your video screen.

Hi Amy! Thank you for your amazing videos! I just had a few questions: How do you teach a young child with level IV/V CP AND visual impairment to stand/ sit/ play? Any videos in relation to teaching movement to children with visual impairment? Please guide me!

Hi, Amy do flexible foot need correction, i mean if a child with flexible foot walks without AFO do they worsen more or it's ok to make them walk without AFO also.
@pediatricPTexercises
@pediatricPTexercises Жыл бұрын
Oh, of course, the answer is: it depends. It depends on how flexible the foot is and how bad the alignment is. The research indicates that a child who is pulling up to stand and cruising with significantly poor alignment, could benefit from orthotics orthotics. You have to very carefully chose them to limit as much as possible good movement, and provide appropriate support as well.

The first thing I recommend is for you to find a local pediatric physical therapist who can help you. In the meantime maybe this playlist will help you. kzfaq.info/sun/PLAkJbMrHyKjMZYC1aYPuXrp-I9VFpNhCu

My baby started sitting at 1 year and 4 months so I understand your pain. Keeep following the videos and even with the crying just keep trying at intervals. Just don’t give up, it’s really disheartening. Do the exercise with the ball that really helped my son.

Oh wow. I am a pediatric physical therapist. You would need to consult with a speech therapist for help. Make sure you talk to and include your baby and find ways for her to communicate either by reaching for choices or looking to choices or touching a tablet to choices on a communication app

I do not know your three-year-old son. I have not evaluated him to know if there are any contraindications. However, I have done this exercise with children, three years old and much older.
