Cheating in chess is an epidemic, especially today with modern-day tech. It undermines the core aspects that make the game enjoyable and rewarding. It's cowardly, it's lame, and frankly, just embarrassing. Yet, here we are, with thousands of cheaters getting banned every week online.
Here are 5 encounters of Chess Streamers with absolutely blatant cheaters who had no clue what they were doing:
00:00 - Hikaru Nakamura
03:02 - Daniel Naroditsky
06:10 - Eric Hansen
07:51 - Soon-to-be GM Levy Rozman :)
10:42 - Magnus Carlsen
Thanks for watching!

There are industry standard dB levels for music, voice over (vo), and sound fx, etc. Look them up and use them as a guide, it'll immediately make your videos appear more polished. KZfaq may have it's own recommendations, I can't remember, but it doesn't hurt to be aware of "broadcast" standards.

Couple of months? I don’t think you realise how much he has left to get to GM lol. He needs to get his rating to 2500 (he’s like 150 away). He needs to consistently be playing tournaments with a high win rate. And then the 3 norms. That could take a year if he is perfect. But 2 is more realistic. And these kids are getting better in quicker time. It’s difficult to say at this stage.

Question: as I don't even understand chess to a basic level where I could even recognize this as cheating, what makes it so obvious to super high end players. Are these not just really leftfield moves these players could/should then be incorporating into their own games? Or are they just so odd they make the rest of the game incredibly difficult to manage around? Isn't this just another puzzle to solve and probably will be as chess continues to advance?

Is the rook move really that impressive when you're right next to the queening square? You're also threatening check on the king. I don't play bullet so maybe it is a totally different animal, but it's not exactly a deep line.

@Joshwaheazo
@Joshwaheazo 21 күн бұрын
@@ohnah6261Fair enough, I would find that move pretty quickly. But it might take me about 30 seconds to calculate it, I'm not a bullet player (I play 30 minute rapids or longer). They're alot higher elo than me (1986) so was just asking from someone elses perspective as the tactic isn't that impressive imo. The caluclation speed is far greater than mine....but I'm not a GM, that's the only thing that impresses me. Not sure how much you just rely on intuition in bullet, because it's not something I'd feel comfortable playong without checking it for sure.
@Joshwaheazo
@Joshwaheazo 21 күн бұрын
@@krisboudreau3475Not weird at all. If they take the rook. You make a queen and take the knight because it's check. That's a massive material gain, and it's the only possible way to get the pawn to promote. Rooks with closed postions are arguably not as strong as knights, so getting a queen and clearly the knight or removing a pawn is exactly what you need to improve your position. It's also creates the only two candiate lines for a check which you're always looking for. Doesn't take much calculation to see you get a queen and go up an extra 7 points of material or worst case win a pawn with check and get greater rook mobility. Seems like a pretty human move, but it would probably take me around 30 seconds to find that. Im only 1986 in 30 minute rapid though. So was just curious to get someones perspecive from bullet.
@krisboudreau3475
@krisboudreau3475 21 күн бұрын
@@Joshwaheazo you would never find it because you would never even think to look for it. You like any other human, especially being sub2000 would simply win the horse and play 2v1 rooks. If this is smtg u would find in 30s you would be much higher rated than 1986 rapid (which is like 1700 blitz maybe)

how do you "cheat" in chess ? dk nothing bout this
@crem444
@crem444 Күн бұрын
The main way of cheating at least online is to use an engine on another screen. We have gotten to the point where computers have far surpassed humans in terms of Chess, since engines are open source people can just use them to find the best moves on another screen. That’s why cheaters take more time making a move, because they’re looking at their engine.
@agardragon6979
@agardragon6979 10 күн бұрын
I use to cheat and Ive heard many misconceptions such as "cheaters have to take 2-3 seconds for each move" which is not true. Arrows pop on the screen immediately showing the top three moves with different colors signifying which is the best move and u just drag where the piece where you want. You can wait extra seconds to give the computer time to think which helps against other computers, but usually less than a second is enough to beat most gms.

cheaters take a consistant time it doesn't have to be 2-3 seconds. Since you don't need to think you make a move in roughly the same amount off time (move a piece the way the arrow tells you) and if you try to fake it you don't know on which moves it's logical to take more time since your mind is not in the game at all

The art of chess, though seemingly simplistic in its outward appearance, possesses a depth and complexity that transcends the notion of mere victory or defeat. The challenge of the game lies not solely in the pursuit of triumph over an opponent, but in the profound intellectual engagement it demands. The pursuit of knowledge and the refinement of strategic acumen are the true rewards that the game of chess bestows upon its devotees, irrespective of the outcome against any adversary, whether human or artificial. To dismiss the intrinsic value of the game due to the potential for defeat against advanced technological adversaries would be to overlook the profound lessons it holds for the development of one's own critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, as magnus himself even says.

I watched the chess world championship in 22 and they take breaks where they go and discuss positions with entire teams. Fischer was correct in so many ways. I love chess but I'm skeptical of all players and to see a 2900 get surprised by a 3 move checkmate is what really surprises me most often. By 2900 wouldn't you have seen these positions thousands of times?

Watching a 2700 player take 1.1 seconds to find that 3-move checkmate that sacrifices a rook instead of taking the knight or taking the pawn is quite obviously insanely surprising my man. If that happens against a 3k player after like 10 seconds, ok, but not in that case, absolutely insane.
