We were able to borrow a grapple from a friend, the Land Pride SGC0660 and this was our first time putting it to use clearing some brush piles. Watch more of our videos shorturl.at/szFHP ... If you're considering getting a grapple for your compact tractor, this Land Pride is worth a look. It's not a real heavy grapple, which helps retains as much lifting capacity as possible.

I’m sure others may have better techniques than mine while using your grapple but I’ll offer you mine. When picking up a log try putting the rear tines against the log barely touching the ground. Knuckle forward (as if you were dumping the bucket) while closing the grapple. Once closed curl all the way back. The objective is to rest the log on the rear tines with the front of the grapple holding it in place. This method will offer a more secure grip as opposed to pinching the middle of the log. I have over 600 tractor hours on my grapple and I’m still learning. Lol

It's a big time and back saver! You can also use the upper part to back drag and rake up some of those branches. I too am getting used to it. I bought mine in December, but snow just recently melted enough to use it. Getting a few acres cleared for our tree farm. Appreciate all the info you have documented!

I have the same tractor and Grapple... when back raking keep it in float... all the way forward and dont extend the hydraulics all the way out. I've lifted Rocks and whole trees with mine. it's fairly light compared to other Grapples too. Lots of rear ballast always.

I spent the day at the farm using mine to burn up the brush pile and continue the cleaning work. It is such a time saver and back saver. My wife is voting that you should get a grapple if that helps. PS-you will want to get a grill guard to protect the radiator, because those sticks love to find their way in there.

Great video as usual! I recently bought a 3901 with a bush hog. I havent used yet due to rain in my area, so ive been watching your videos and others.....Particularly the other video of yours where you said you shoulda gotten the 2501 and used the extra funds elsewhere. That video got me to thinkin and doin even more research. Called my dealer and he agreed to return the 3901....Im getting a 2501, 3rd function, grappler, heavy box blade, and pallet forks for very close the same price as the 3901. I do have a pond levee and somewhat hilly terrain that i believe the 3901 will handle better, but a man with a budget (wife) has to do what he has to do. And i need the implements to do what needs doin. Thanks for the vids and valuable info. Just know that your videos persuaded one new tractor owner. For better or worse is yet to be decided 😂
@WoodsTreeFarm
@WoodsTreeFarm 3 жыл бұрын
sounds like you got everything you'll need! If you don't need the pto HP, there's not much advantage of the 3901 over the 2501, so you probably made the right move. best of luck with your new tractor!

You will have to buy a grapple after this! Try rolling the grapple forward a little more before closing it, I think that may help some. Also I thought I saw a blue tractor in the background in the one shot of you talking. Is that a Farmtrac?
@WoodsTreeFarm
@WoodsTreeFarm 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip. I did end up trying to tilt the grapple forward, and found it to be pretty effective at squashing a big pile of brush while closing the grapple and was able to grab considerably more at once. Yes the OBT (old blue tractor) makes an appearance here and there in videos. Its a Farmtrac 60 - here's an up-close kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bJijnM17l7iXhas.html

There was no wondering IF you were going to simply love the grapple. I knew you would love it. I waited 10 years before I got one on my tractor and I could kick myself for not just spending the money in the first place. If you want to get your wife's endorsement on the grapple, just let her drive the tractor and use the grapple. She'll get used to it fast and simply love it. "Gair-ounn-teed" 😊 👍

I was actually just borrowing that grapple before and only had it for two months or so. It did everything I had asked. I now have the Artillian grapple and there are a few reasons I like it better. In particular, I like the long lower sections that make it easier to scoop and lift brush and logs.

@@treeman765 Looks like a Land Pride 3rd function valve kit. For that particular tractor, your're looking at between $900+ and $1100, depending on where you can find them. Messick's tractor has them on Amazon for right at $1000 including free shipping off Amazon. Not very hard to install it yourself. Takes an 1 hour to 2 depending on mechanically experienced you are. Good luck.
