I'm glad grey goes deep on the sources in history, i feel like right around the 1800 people just went crazy and a lot of it ended up in our canon unfairly. Like shitposting from the past coming back to haunt us.

36:00 Aww ya, this is the stuff I subbed for. Gray's annoyed rants. Annoyed rants are the best type because they stew in the brain before being spoken.

Grey. You do the rabbit holes because you know as well as I do that if you don’t, and get something wrong, a random commenter on the internet will find what it is in five minutes. No matter how obscure or arcane the fact.

I'm 100% with Grey on this Central London thing. I have moved to live two blocks from work. I have planed where to live to keep my commute as short as humanly possible for the last twenty years.

London is 607mi^2. Paris is 40.7mi^2 which is 6.7% the size of London. New York is 468mi^2 which is 77.1% the size of London. I included percentages as some of you may be metric. Interestingly, NY has 93.7% of the population of London.

Episode 118 - the episode when Myke discovers Grey is a perfectionist and more than a little bit stubborn... *remembers "The Race to Win Staten Island " video* In all seriousness, I really do love listening to Grey talk about things he's really passionate about, but I worry about his health and how much he can sometimes hyperfocus on projects. I love me some CGP Grey content, but I want there to still be a Grey there in 5/10/20 years making things he's passionate about. Hopefully he can either find a healthy middle ground for these kinds of projects, or an assistant who's willing to closeline him to stop him from going down a rabbit hole.

Myke's "do you not do this to yourself though" right before most definitely also applies. Like, why are you complaining, you choose this path. But then grad school is a bear.

Don't let the perfect become the enemy of the good. It is ok to set limits. I think you can do that and still be true to your audience. Going to the absolute end of the rabbit hole is an unsustainable amount of stress. There are people who have dedicated their lives to each of those rabbit holes and they don't have all the answers either. Just tell your audience "I don't know the answer" or "I went this far and this is what I found."

46:31 The cognitive dissonance around this is astounding. I've seen friends (on Facebook of course), rant about how bad/evil Mark Zuckerberg is, then in the next post rant about how Facebook should be doing more to control/censor the posts and news that "isn't true".

I have started timetracking! I have finished my Master's this summer and will be starting as an adjunct this fall. I haven't timetracked since high school (it was required) but since I'm starting in the "real working world", I would want to know exactly how much time it takes for me to start a course from scratch.
