I drove that road this summer for the first time and it was a little scary through the passes...I can't even imagine driving it in Winter !!!!

We were stuck in this yesterday driving back to Denver from Vail. It was insane.

Yesterday was one for the books. Snow packed roads are normal here, but man, when that wind kicked up, it was full white out conditions. I couldn’t see the hood of my truck.

Probably the only reason I would never move to Colorado.

These are the kinda winter weather conditions that give drivers nightmares!!

I drove from Denver to Grand Junction in a bus through that mess. Couldn't believe I made it.

Snow is beautiful but shoveling may be required.

Ive driven that road when there was a lot more snow, its not so bad as long as you are cautious and take your time

Gosh, if only there was a way to make the planet warmer and safer.

Wonder how the EV's do in that situation. Limited range, having to run heater and not going anywhere, reducing planed range. No real option for emergency "fuel". Is that not a problem?

For Canadians who travel through that on their way to warmer climates further south: If the Canadian wears winter tires on their vehicle to get through any 'unexpected' snowstorms like this, then once they reach the extreme heat of Arizona, their tires start to melt and peel off in chunks. The ONLY way to travel with safety is to buy and use 'ALL-WEATHER' tires, ones that wear down a bit faster than all seasons in the heat, but you get most of the snow traction of winter tires.

Its a good thing you had your flashers on... otherwise no one else would've figured out that you were in hazardous conditions.

Glade I took the I-80 instead. Just dealing with high winds. Easier than that crap! Watch the weather maps and radars. Truckers should know better. Taking the 80 is only a couple hours out of route most times.

This was before they closed the pass, It got much worse because I was returning back to I-70 just about 5:45 and there was not a snow plow or salt truck anywhere. There was a literal few thousand vehicles stranded trying to take alternate passes. The very first Interstate Blower I saw was at 18:00 hrs,, they all showed up after. I am furious because I know I can make it over the pass with no issues but directed away by Vail Police. They must do this for safety of their people that will have to risk their lives to save others, I do understand. But at the same time the actions created a much worse problem, how is Vail going to house a Million stranded people? Most of us tracked on back on HWY 92, back behind Copper Mountain, then back on I-70, and I laterally watched the dumbest thing in my life. People and three lanes wide are driving up to the Eisenhower tunnel and we are on packed ice with no gravel, coated with inches of snow. Those of us that know these passes know why chains and the right tires are so important, what was holding us al up was those with wrong tires, and the roads, those roads left with no plows, and why is that? No plows, no salt, and no Gravel. Colorado really risked a serious problem that they almost let unfold, those intermountain cities can't house all those people, people were going to freeze to death stuck on the road.

They should stay on the right side so cars and small trucks can go by. I truly admire and support them all, women and men but blocking the highway is not right

No one hires new people local driver you go winter blizzard otr . No chance no hope no oxygen no medical no fuel bankrupt.....😢
