Wow, watching that is bittersweet. Knowing what happened to Kenyon Martin at the end of the year and seeing the national championship go away when he broke his ankle. What a team they had. Too bad the current Bearcats, stuck in the AAC, will probably never have a season or center like that again. :- (

Can someone tell me why Cota and Forte two big time talents had to endure all their careers overseas? what was the knock on em?
@djayb2259
@djayb2259 5 жыл бұрын
Forte could not transition to the PG position for Boston in the pros, his shot never took the next NBA range step and he was overwhelmed by the quickness of the NBA. Cota, IMO, would have been drafted after his junior year and maybe stuck on a roster as a solid backup. The knock was his outside shooting, which improved overseas, and his on ball defense. He could not rely on his court awareness and in-between game. Two of my all-time Tar Heels for sure.
@bradlewis6514
@bradlewis6514 3 жыл бұрын
@@djayb2259 And I also believe Forte could have used another year at Carolina! He was nowhere near pro-ready at that time! Being co ACC player of the year as a sophomore made his head swell! In Cota's case he was as good as they came at the college level ball handling and assist wise but his height was a setback

Huggins has the worst luck of any coach I've ever seen in any sport at any level. The freak buzzer beaters, the player injuries, and guys not living up to their potential is almost unbelievable. Ironically the 93 and 94 teams that went to the final 4 and elite 8 were less talented overall than his later teams.

+Matt Strathearn also check out the UC Depaul game from 2000. Martin led the team back from a 10 point deficit with 3:45 left in the game. He scored the last 12 points, blocked some shots, and just muscled his team back for the victory. Amazing performance, and Dickie V goes nuts.

+Doug Dehne Wow somebody is salty. We are all Bearcat fans, right? I admit I didn't notice the date at first. Try not to get your panties in a bunch over something so trivial. I've been a Bearcat fan since 1992 when Nick Van Exel played there, so I'm definitely not trying to minimize the accomplishments of this team. Good job insulting somebody you don't know. You sure are a tough guy on the internet. I bet I've forgotten more about the game of basketball than you will ever know.
