Pakistani use to travel a lot by road to Pakistan from England in 60'S and 70's. I came to Pakistan by road twice, once in 1963 and again in 1968.The most popular route was from England to Belgium ( crossing English channel by ferry which took me nearly 4 hours from Dover to Ostend.) From Belgeum to Germany (west in those days).Then to Austria, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran and into Pakistan. It took us 15 days. It was a trip of a lifetime. Germany and Austria was (and still are) like heaven on earth. I had no problem anywhere. In Europe ,Immigration and custom was done while we were sitting in the car ( those were the days). I still remember each and every day of that journey.From London to Quetta was nearly 6000 miles.

Hi, just wanted to enquire about the process of taking a vehicle to Pakistan please... 1. You took a 4 year old vehicle to Pakistan. Did u have to gain permission first? If so who by? 2. Did you have to pay custom duty/tax? 3. Did you leave the car in pakistan or did you bring it back. 4. I'm thinking of taking my 9 year old vehicle. Any idea how I can start the process ? Thanks.

That’s a great journey. The only problem I think is driving on the left hand side. In Pakistan and England we drive same but Europe is different. Good luck for this gentleman, I would not dare to drive that long.
