If you haven’t been keeping up with Amazon’s The Boys, then you’ve either been living under a rock or are not into the nuanced critiquing of superheroes and celebrity culture as a whole in general. Neither of which are your fault, of course, but if you have seen the show, then you know why we’re so appreciative of it. It puts superheroes and superpowers into a realistic perspective by crossing their popularity with the real-life consequences of fame and makes for a unique - and graphic - piece of viewing that is at least on par with the first 4 seasons of The Game of Thrones. And nowhere is this more evident than the complete meltdown of a character that is Homelander; what Superman would become if he had all his powers and none of his morality. Anthony Starr’s wild-eyed, maniacal Supe is a walking time-bomb that is presumably indestructible and definitely the strongest “of his kind”. Homelander is a living example of the phrase “absolute power corrupts absolutely”, and nowhere has that been more evident than in these 12 insanely terrifying moments. So, these are the Top 12 Worst Things Homelander does in The Boys TV series - Explored. Oh, and spoiler warning; if you haven’t watched the show, we’d recommend that you proceed at your own risk. You’ve been warned.

True, and equally tragic is, if BlindSpot *had* gotten on to the team how many assignments would he accomplish before someone figured out his weakness and how many, near-misses, would occur before BlindSpot *had* to recieve medical treatment to prevent him from going deaf? Homelander's standards, which I'm explaining not endorsing, are no less cruel than the realities that BlindSpot would've to inevitably confront *had* he gotten on the Seven.

Homelanders catchphrase "you're the real heroes" is the shows way of saying that it is US, as the audience, the average voter, the ordinary man who is the real problem. We blame homelander for who he is because he is "EASY" to hate... A man who so desperately ants to be loved. But we look past the shows real villains which is edgar... a black man who literally works as CEO of a company founded by the Nazi's, a man so corporate and shallow he willingly allowed stormfront, a member of the KKK, to join the 7 and he knew full well who she was and what she'd done and it didn't phase him. The definition of evil is "Willful Ignorance". This definition does not actually apply to Homelander, Homelander is a victim of his own power and the people who moulded him into a sociopath for their own ends, but it applies firmly to Edgar and it applies to US because we hate Homelander and root for Edgar because Edgar holds power over Homelander... We should pity homelander and instead hate Edgar for creating him. If you pay attention to the rest of the cast you'll have noticed that every character is defined by their childhood and their parents influence. Billy butcher beaten by his dad, Soldier boy beaten by his dad, Huey lost his mum, Starlights mum betrayed her, A train was raised by his brother... Homelander was raised by Vought and it is Vought who re the real villains of the show not Homelander

Power doesn’t corrupt, it reveals
@jacobmcdorman5552
@jacobmcdorman5552 11 ай бұрын
@@chocolanny The process to attain power scars. As power scars those around you, so must your spirit be scarred in turn. Basically, when you do a "little evil" for the greater good. Eventually you come to a point where you've become what you've fought against. Initially, you probably weren't so bad... over time... well history shows. And usually the evil done is a shortcut, and un-necessary. Vigilantism for instance. When you act outside of the law, you eventually become the villain you're fighting. Because the people you're fighting typically don't have a choice in the matter. “For if you suffer your people to be ill-educated, and their manners to be corrupted from their infancy, and then punish them for those crimes to which their first education disposed them, what else is to be concluded from this, but that you first make thieves and then punish them.” - Sir Thomas Moore, Utopia. (Batman could have built schools and low cost housing to fight the greater issue "crime and graft". But instead he decided to fight one on one, with people who'd be replaced immediately by those who were also desperate. Batman was an idiot. Same with Superman, screw Lex Luthor, that's 1 man who owns a "city" with what 1 million people? How about you use your technology and powers to help BILLIONS in need and let the petty king have his pointless throne). The great leader, who assumed absolute power to do what was "right" and "necessary" and was the paragon of virtue and sacrifice... Perhaps his successor is great... and the next one great... but, sooner or later, there will be a monster, who will use the ultimate power of the office for evil.

You know we still have yet to see how formidably strong he is in the show. The fear of his powers is what gives him power more than anything. Gets thrown by Stormfront and a bloody nose from Maive. It’d be major plot twist if they revealed that he was just a bit better than the average Supe but not the almighty one. He isn’t Vought’s most valuable asset after all, there’s gotta be some form of power/or person they use to make Compound V with that could be the real deal and could possibly explain why Edgar is so unphased by him, as he knows the bigger picture which Homelander is just a small part of.

I’m more of a fan of he being powerful as hell bcz it would make him more terrifying for us the viewers. If we know he actually isn’t that impressive then I feel the stakes would drop. Also, I’m a fan of the character (strictly of the writing, not the mortality ofc) so I wouldn’t want him to be actually not much of a threat after all the buildup.

@@itscooldawg_420 Who cares how much power someone has when they wield it like an infantile, monsterous tyrant? Greatness is not measured in raw power, but in a strong moral compass, a reflective and empathetic nature, and a pure desire to better not only Your life, but the Lives of everyone You can. Greatness is doing what is fair, just, and equitable to the best of Your ability with the limited power and resources available to You. With ANY power, comes responsibility. To Yourself, and Others.

People who dont understand physics always brings the 1st point as some kind of evidence. There is no single point that he can hold weight of a plane, he would just go through it like a needle on a skin. Pressure is force applied to area, smaller the area, higher the pressure will be, aka hand area of homelander, and he will just go directly through it. if there were 2 homelanders they could have tried pulling it from planes wing, at the same time with exact same force (there should be holder for lifting up the plane), and to preserve already plummeting planes inertia they have to do it in reverse exponential curve of force-time graph, so you dont squish everyone inside. IN OTHER WORDS, it is impossible to do so in that case. Superman had this exact problem until they retconned him so now he has invisible force barrier that nullifies physics law. As smart guy once said, "You put force, you get exact amount back at you. Thiccer the booty, greater the attraction".

@@Mzlanders Huh? I asked two questions and made a statement and all of a sudden, I'm unhinged by fake characters?! Reaching much, are we?! I asked the questions because most literature has a beginning, build up and then climax (end). If the whole point of the Boys is to stop superheroes from doing whatever they want and bring down the company that creates them, then it would stand to reason that the superheroes can be beat. Until the most reason episodes, they made it look as if HL could not be harmed. Thus my question. Also, a reasonable question, why would anyone create something they have no way to end or take down, knowing that thing could and would possibly turn on you in the future.

about flight 37, homelander isnt really a carbon copy of superman as he has some of superman's powers but extremely toned down versions of them, he also abides by the laws of physics meaning he literally couldnt hold the plane without the plane snapping in half

I feel like Homelander could have stopped the plane from falling. I'm 99.9% sure he's strong and fast enough to either lift the plane or carry people on-board safely down. I think Homelander was just so lazy, he didn't want to save those people. Why try to save everyone where he can easily get PR from not saving them either? He had no reason to save these people in his head.
@PurooRoy
@PurooRoy Жыл бұрын
He couldn't save it. Like he said, he's so strong and fast he would tear the plane instead. The difference between his flight and Superman's is that Superman is basically floating in the sky, whereas Homelander is doing something along the lines of moon gravity.

@@PurooRoy Homelander says a lot of things that either stretch the truth or are just straight-up lies. I'm sure if Homelander strained himself enough, he could've saved everyone on-board. Or heck, given how he's faster than sound, I'm sure him and Maeve could've went back and forth bringing the passengers down to land safely. Homelander's just been shown to be very lazy, and saving those people wouldn't havr gained him anything.

@@PurooRoy @Puroo Roy And the fact that he's lazy and he really wouldn't have benefitted from saving them compared to lying about them. Also, Homelander's flight isn't much different from Superman's. If he was careful (Which he wouldn't be, of course) he could've lifted the plane easily. Homelander has floated before, such as right after him and Maeve left the plane to float and watch it crash. Or the times he was on stage and would float like a wannabe-Jesus figure. How about when he was fighting Billy Butcher in Season 3 and he floated upward to shoot lasers?

I wonder if starlight could be a huge assist and blind homelander long enough for someone more capable to eff him up. Issue is he has laser eyes but he also has heightened visual prowess. I mean maybe. Another serious issue is starlight uses her powers less than like a dozen times probably lmao. For some reason she just uses her somewhat mediocre super strength to punch and kick. Dont get me wrong she shoulder presses the back of a car in her video to try to join to seven but im pretty sure black noir is better in those regards and even more durable... She should play to her true strengths more. That blinding powers kinda super useful seeming to cripple people. Season 3 spoiler ahead- And black noir still gets fully donut holed by homelander. I mean homelander almost donut holes starlight in an elevator threat he really dug his hand into her abdomen.
