Here are the 12 mods I use all the time, whether I'm just playing ranked, custom lobbies or tournaments! You can find them directly in game, by going in to Option - Mods - Browse Mods, and then subscribe to the ones you like.

Don't forget the essential 'Royal Janissary' mod that gives Janissaries their big hats back. Almost unplayable without it.

I also recommend the Better Minimap Colors mod to anyone looking to make things slightly easier. It changes the coloring of forests a bit on the map to make them stand out more.

That small trees mod (I use the same) should remove stomps AND weird useless plants… so u should be able to disable those two and still have the game clean. GGs

Is the fish outline not official yet? If I could only have one mod, even if small trees and the grid were still only mods, it would be the fish outline, and I don’t even like water stages. That would have been the first mod I would make an in-game option if I were in charge.

Thanks for sharing, very interesting! My most important mod: vululu. Jokes aside - I hate the monk conversion sounds, I've gg-ed to massed monks before because of that, so it does actually help.

Is there any risk installing mods? In other words virus game crashers etc.?

If a mod contains something other than game files or .txt files then the game won't allow publishing it. So unless you download your mods from somewhere sketchy outside the in-game mod manager, there aren't really any such risks. If in the unlikely event a mod causes stability/performance issues with the game you can just uninstall and remove it (this can also be done without starting the game)

Hi people. Is there a way to change the player civ color?. Don't really fancy the blue/red combo. Tried a couple of mods but didn't seem to work. Does anyone know of a way around?

Can someone please tell why the AOE2D2 team don’t care about issues they created and actually correct these issues that were raised (4) years ago. I spent a long time creating a map with triggers, and can only play my map as player 1. This is simply unacceptable.

Most of this mods are just cheating. If you aren't observant and forget a part of a wall due to a tree then you will learn for next time to look better. If you have misjudged how far an mangonel can shoot - next time you will better. You are just destroying the game with this stuff. And besides, the game just looks awful now.

The game has in-game options where you can turn on range indicators, one doesn't need or have to use a mod for that.
