Almost every day, an archaeologist somewhere in the world makes a great discovery. That means there’s always something new and beautiful to show you on our channel! Some of these discoveries are the product of years of careful hard work and planning, whereas others were happy accidents, discovered completely by chance. All of them have one thing in common: - They’re simply incredible!

thank you for pointing out that gobekli tepe is the oldest civilization ever found, So Far.!!!.......almost always refered to as the "oldest on earth", but there is so much left to find buried under sand and earth, and certainly on most every coastline on the planet, under just a few hundred feet of water.....great video, many love, much props

It's not always "religious" significance, there's also spiritual significance.

The beach Footprints make very little sense to me I don't understand it's a wash away that quickly how they are known to be that old and often the last time a storm hit and someone walk there

Archaeology has been my favorite thing since I was probably 4 or 5 - I'm 33 now. I guess it was probably a mix of Indiana Jones and a book my mom got me about Egypt that sparked it. I would love nothing more than to be able to do it for a living but there isn't much call for it around here other than old Native American sites - but even if I could just be an amateur would be awesome. I could die happy if I found some kind of old treasure chest, cave paintings, old relics, etc - as a matter of fact, I would probably have a heart attack and die on the spot lol. That's how much I love archaeology. If I found a treasure chest of old coins, I don't know if I would just turn them in to a museum for like a finder's fee, keep them, or sell them - I'd be very tempted just to keep them.. (just being honest). I found some weird old commemorative coins in my yard a few years ago with a metal detector. I doubt they have any actual value other than the excitement of finding them. But only my family has lived on this land for probably 100+ years so I don't know how they got there, but as an archaeology lover, I was pretty excited about that. Another weird thing, my grandma had a rock that had a footprint in it - toes, heel and everything.

The round island is easily explained. A similar process may be observed in any river during freezing temperatures. A portion of ice is broken away from the main body of ice and becomes captured by a vortex, as it spins in the vortex it becomes round like a grinding wheel when it contacts the static ice around it , as it spins the opening in the surrounding sheet of ice also becomes round. A disk within a round opening in the ice. This island is the same except that it is actually a floating mass of vegetation probably peat moss .

They really believe a construction worker who broke open a bronze vessel, which would necessarily expose the shining gold, was going to have it dumped? Yeah sure. The amateur archeologist probably claimed to be responsible for finding the gold, so he could get the finder's fee. I doubt he was on the spot at every backhoe excavation, so as to stop the blind operators from tossing anything valuable away. Somebody had to have said, Hey! Take a look at this!

Hell as much as I love archaeology and as much stuff as construction workers find, I'm half tempted to get a job as a construction worker. I wonder if they get excited when they find stuff or just shrug it off.

What is it with these KZfaq channels. They have the pretense to teach us, but they always have pronunciation problems with place names. It's like they don't look anything up. Their pronunciation of Yekaterinburg is from outer space or something. If you don't look up simple things like place name pronunciation, why should we believe you haven't made up your facts. Phooey!

Look up the pronunciation of Irkutsk. You got it wrong again. In fact, look up everything in the script before you record it. Who knows if any of it is correct.
