10- Red Cottage - This beautiful isolated house sits on an island aptly named Just Room Enough Island. Part of the Thousand Islands chain of islands in Canada, Just Room Enough was bought in 1950s by the Sizeland family who wanted a unique place to build a holiday home. They built their house with the walls just reaching to the edge of the island and gave the island its special name. The plan backfired on the family who were looking to find a quiet retreat, and instead had to deal with tourists and sightseers stopping by to take a look at their unusual home.
9- Hermitage of San Colombano - Located in Italy between Vivenza and Rovereto, the Hermitage of San Colombano sits high on a mountainside looking down upon the city below. 120 meters up the cliff, it was clearly built to give its inhabitants a reprise from the hustle and bustle of the world below. It was built almost 700 years ago in 1319 and is named after the Irish saint Colombano. To gain entry to the structure you need to pass through the Leno gorge and then climb up 102 steep steps up the gorge. Every Christmas there is a candlelight walk up to the hermitage to signify the pilgrims climbing up the steps to pay respect to the saint.
8- Casa Malaparte - Casa Malaparte also known as Villa Malaparte, is located on Punta Massullo on the eastern side of Capri, Italy. Construction started in 1937 by well-known architect Adalberto Libera. The house is a red masonry box shape with stairs leading up to a fabulous roof patio. The house can only be reached by crossing the island on foot and takes about an hour and a half to walk there from the summit.
7- Villa Mecklin -Located in the Finnish Archipelago, Villa Mecklin is as picturesque and secluded as you can get. Built in a small depression in the natural rock, the villa was built using all basic materials. On one side looking past the structure you see the water and looking past it from the other side you see the land, surrounded by trees, exposed rocks and plenty of vegetation. The highlight of the house is the terrace, which is large and faces out toward the water for the view of a lifetime.
6- Stockholm, Sweden - Several miles away from Stockholm, Sweden there’s an incredible house that sits on the highest point of a small island stretching out just 137 square meters. The house is isolated and beautiful and includes a living room, guest room, a kitchen and glass doors leading out to a large deck, plus a sauna.
5- Katskhi Pillar - 130 feet above the hills of central Georgia sits Katskhi Pillar. Georgia adopted Christianity as the state religion in the 4th century and the Katskhi Pillar became the site of a small church built in the 7th century. It’s sole resident for the past 20 years has been a Georgian monk. A fun fact about the pillar - women aren’t permitted to climb to the top.
4- Artist Studio Fogo Island, Canada - Fogo Islanders are simple, independent people who live to fish and enjoy the serenity of the beautiful landscape around them. Located on the island are six artist studios built by the Shorefast Foundation. The idea behind the studios design is to create a geometric structure that would contrast the natural setting around them. The studios stand on pillars near the sea and each are isolated and can actually be moved to any part of the island.
3- Thatched hut, Panama - Looking more like a scene out of Gilligan’s Island, this small island with a thatch roofed hut is the epitome of peace and quiet. The pole style thatched roof hut is common in Panama and can house an entire family. Building materials are tree trunks for the main pillars, bamboo poles as support and different types of leaves for the roof. A well-made hut can usually stand for as long as 30 years.
2- The House on the Sea- Living in this house is definitely like stepping into the land of Robinson Crusoe. Just off the coast of Cornwall, England, The House on the Sea is situated right on the beach and can only be reached by climbing across a 90 foot high suspension bridge. Surrounded by water and isolated from the town, the tiny island is far from basic. The interiors are a luxurious mix of sleek neutrals and modern design, with panoramic sea views offered at every turn.
1- Holy Trinity Monastery - Located in central Greece, the Holy Trinity Monastery is the oldest among the six functioning monasteries located there - having been built in 1476. It sits atop a 1300 foot rock and years ago access could only be gained by climbing a rope ladder with just a net below. Today the entrance is reached by climbing 140 steps cut into the rock. It once held historical treasures, such as precious manuscripts, however, they were stolen during World War II.

My wife and I lived and traveled on our sailboat through many parts of the world. "Thatched Hut" looks like a typical San Blas Island scene, just off the Caribbean side of Panama. This was just about our favorite part of our travels. Inhabited by the primitive but lovely Kuna Indians. We lived there on our boat for a year. This was Paradise!! For those interested, it is possible to stay at several "eco-resorts" in the San Blas. Simple but absolutely lovely.

There is one house worth mentioning here. It is in Nepal, above Manang village. A man nicknamed "100 Lama" lives there. This house is in fact a cave-house hybrid. It takes a very demanding 1 hour trek up the rocky mountain, around 600metres up from the village. There is obviously no electricity, heating or running water. And the view from that place is absolutely mind blowing, fantastic!

You are right; I'm pretty sure that "secluded" doesn't mean that it's right out in plain view. And judging by the responses, a lot of people believe the author. Human gullibility is hilarious.

@williamshakespeare4013 7 жыл бұрын
"Most *amazing* secluded homes" not "most *secluded* homes". A hermit living in a tent in Siberian tundra doesn't qualify for this list. Also, unless you believe people are routinely hovering outside these houses in their helicopters, these homes are pretty secluded.
@maxbrewster245
@maxbrewster245 7 жыл бұрын
William Shakespeare What I was getting at though, was that if these homes were truly secluded no-one would know about their existence. But yeah, well spotted about the missing "amazing" word.

Max Brewster As is typical of me while wasting time on YT, I'm just having fun, so please don't think I'm intentionally mocking you for humor: I can't believe that you hyphenated no one. I've noticed that spelling in very old publications, but I've never seen one write it in modern times. Do you do the same with today? At least you didn't spell it as noone, which is just one letter short of having sex during lunch hour.
@maxbrewster245
@maxbrewster245 7 жыл бұрын
Wayne Cameron I don't hypenate "everyone" but in the case of "no-one" I do it for readability. I do think both everyone and no-one are single words, so rather than write no-one as two words I just hypenate it. Sometimes the meaning can be altered by writing something as 2 words when it should be 1 word, or vice versa. I've seen people write something along the lines of "I'm apart of this group" when they mean "I'm a part of this group". But yeah, I'm quite anally pedantic about getting grammar and spelling right, and I often edit my posts to correct spelling or to re-phrase a sentence for clarity.

I helped build one. Uyuk Bay, about 5 miles up the bay from the cannery and airstrip at Larsen Bay, across from a little island. 4 weeks August 1999. We flew in - float plane. 40,000 lbs. of green wood waiting for us, in the wrong place. We brought our tents, with a big one for storage/commissary. Two generators, one for the freezer, one for the saws. Freezer packed with Moose. I was "camp cook". How many ways can I serve Moose? We had a small boat... brother-in-law and I went up to the cannery twice for fuel, make phone calls, buy veggies etc. Cannery hired college kids on summer break; bought some weed. Had a shower each trip. HOT WATER. Luxury! Bears swim REALLY fast. Tides were 22 ft. We used the boat to get fresh water 1/2 mile away. Boat untied itself one night and went up the bay. Had to wait for a fishing boat for a ride... 2 days. Moose tacos. Moose burgers. Spaghetti & Moose sauce. Moose meatloaf. Moose stew. Moose fajitas. Moose chili. Moose mac n cheese. Moosaka. Szechuan Moose. Now THAT was a fuckin' adventure.

I'd love to spend the rest of my life in that Icelandic hunter's cabin. Just eating what I can cultivate, drinking rain water and lighting my bedroom with a couple of candles while a read an old dusty book just before falling asleep. My only company would be my loyal dog. I'd spend my days working on the land and painting with watercolors. Ahh... dreaming is free

Cornwall, England "The House On The Sea" is my fav. I had to stop the video to see the climbing steps that loop their way to the suspended bridge. I figure as long as there's no snow/ice and the suspended bridge is sturdy and checked for defects, I'm good! Since I'm front Texas my concern is "Tornadoes"? Looks simply relaxing and has anyone ever fell from the bridge. Is is vacated?

I've been to No.2, when they opened it for a time as a cafe. Its not as isolated at you might think, since theres a crowded beach below it, and people can see the house with binoculars from the cliff side.

What about Eynhallow in Orkney? Orkney is already remote, but Eynhallow is surrounded by a deadly tidal race, and can only be accessed by a small boat when the sea is exactly right. There's a single house on the island, which is actually quite nice, if you don't mind no plumbing or electricity. I stayed there for a weekend once as part of a research trip, and it was amazing, but really scary when the tide turned and all around us was whirlpools and white water.

5:21 I'm sure this has already probably been pointed out, but the house in Cornwall is not located at Falmouth where the marker is shown on the map, but is actually in Newquay over on the north coast of Cornwall (also shown on the map).
