2 Things I noticed that you didn't mention: 1. When you skip the cooking animation, It fades to black and comes back a lot quicker. A small thing, but I usually have big cooking sessions in bulk to last me a couple hours, and this feels really nice 2. Enemies that used to pop up at random do so a lot less. Yiga soldiers, chu-chus, stalkoblins, oktoroks, keese, it was so annoying just peacefully walking around and then these guys came up. They still are in TotK, but it is a lot more rare.

The Shrine of Resurrection was repurposed as a Bubbulfrog cave, but you can’t tell that there was any Sheikah technology in it, as if it was all purposefully dismantled or that people wanted to erase its existence. Perhaps because they saw how easily the technology was corrupted in the Calamity, and so they destroyed the vast majority of it so that a catastrophe of that scale could never happen again?

One of my favourite changes in TotK is the ability to remove the GUI when looking at photos you've taken (also the increased storage). There were a lot of photos I took in BotW that I wanted on the Switch itself but couldn't have without Link standing in the way or the massive borders of the Sheikah Slate, so it's great to be able to take a clean screenshot from your gallery. Plus, if you run out of space on the Purah Pad, deleting the photos isn't as much of a problem.

I don't think the smoke when things get struck by lightning is due to the lightning itself. It's because it evaporates the rainwater. The same effect can be seen if you get wet in the Eldin region when the high temperature turns the water to steam.

In BotW, I used stamps for bosses, pins for towers. Never got close to using half of them. At some point I was getting close to using ALL of them!
@OtakuUnitedStudio
@OtakuUnitedStudio Жыл бұрын
I nearly used all of the stamps up because I use them for all kinds of things - Leaf for Korok, Star for Shrines, skull for bosses, and the weird oblong pentagon for towers. I used most of them by the end of the game almost entirely for bosses and uncollected Koroks. In TOTK, I've marked about half of the Lightroots and Shrines since a Shrine is always directly above a Lightroot, so I will probably have about 50 of both finished be the end of this week. And yet, I've only used less than 100 stamps so far. I'm gonna start marking bosses, since I thought there were too many underground to keep proper track of but then I realized there are 300 to work with.

3:03 Not only the color of the lightning, but they changed the SFX for it in TOTK too. BOTW's lightning strike had that massive explosive surge of electricity sound to it. Whereas TOTK's lightning strike sounds more like a regular exploding bomb flower/barrel bomb with a slightly weak electrical surge in the background playing along. Which in my opinion, sounds worser and less scarier than it did in BOTW. I should know because I used to live in a very stormy area once. And BOTW's lightning strike actually sounds very much like what you'd realistically hear during a long and very heavy storm.

They really made so many good changes to totk. Some stuff I still wish they changed or didn’t change but over all there are so many amazing yet subtle quality changes it’s impressive. I don’t wanna necessarily say realism but it leans more towards that (like mushrooms staying the same size, drowning enemies, quicker falling, looking up at the wall, etc)

Weapons emit STEAM when struck because it is raining, and lightning attempts to catch things on fire. Steam occurs when something's wet state prevents it from catching fire.

5:19 I think this is actually steam, not smoke. If it's raining and you try to light something on fire, you'll get a similar effect (even the same hissing sound effect). So I think it's just a general effect that happens if something that causes fire happens, but it's too wet for that to happen.

5:13 Actually... I think that's specifically because of fire/heat and rain, not the lightning itself. I've noticed that when Link gets hit with fire damage shortly after coming out of water, the same steam effect appears.

5:54 , that's because the fire it starts gets countered by the fact the weapons/rocks/Link are wet from the rain, making them unable to burn. The same happens when you are wet (by chuchu jellies for example) inside a lava cave in death mountain, or in the depth underneath Death mountain.
@akswordking
@akswordking Жыл бұрын
#9 is due the new water+heat interaction. It's just steam. You can get wooden weapons to have the same effect via lightning. It is a new thing though. You can use the water shield effect to get this to happen to Link and his gear if you stand next to a fire. You can also use the drenched status to negate 1 level of enviromental heat, useful in the desert.

Another difference is that NPCs now have a large orange "spark" when they take damage from an enemy. In BOTW they would react to the damage the same as they do in TOTK, but no visual "spark".

I think the smoke from lightning strikes is because of you catching fire but it being imeadiately put out by the rain. Theres a cool smoke affect ive noticed for when youre wet and in extreme heat as well as the water evaporates off of your body.

I think the smoke from the lightning thing might be the effect of something being set on fire then immediately put out by the rain. The same thing happens when I tried to use the Goron's fireball to burn away a leaf pile during a rainstorm. It won't burn, but it does smoke up. (Very annoying by the way.)

I think the lighting smoke effect can be explained by the fact that any time heat is applied to anything that is wet, it gives off a steam/sizzle effect that I didn't notice in Breath of the Wild, and I notice that lightning shows more fire properties than previously, as well, so those two would go hand-in-hand! But loving the new meticulousness in Tears of the Kingdom. :)

The lightning to smoke effect has to do with the items being really hot or on fire and then being cooled down or extinguished by the rain. Set link on fire or almost fire then jump into water to see it aswell

I think that the smoke after the lightning strike is because of the water and fire system that totk has. The lighting tries to set you on fire, even rocks, and rain immediately extinguishes it
