Grass cutting mistakes are not all that uncommon. What is shocking is that lawn care professionals sometimes make lawn mowing mistakes that can be easily avoided. Learn how to cut grass in this video buy observing commons mistakes. The mistakes include mowing grass that is too tall. I also including not edging a lawn. I show throwing debris toward a car or home or even a person. I discuss leaving grass clipping on the lawn without dispersing them. I see people who do not take time to blow off the porch. Perhaps you seen people throw clipping out into the street or driveway and just leave them there. You may also see people leaving tire marks in the lawn from not being gentle with the turns. I have seen people turn their zero turn mower around on the driveway with wet grass when can leave nasty tire marks. These are some of the errors to avoid when mowing a lawn. Enjoy the video. Please add to the list in the comments and let me know how you agree and disagree with my list.

I make my turns in the road which results in grass being left. Because of the typical amount of vehicles passing by my beautiful yard to check it out, the grass is gone within hours. I also wear shorts and yes I get grass on my lets and boots. My deck is a mulching mower, double cut until clippings are gone. Good video...

13:20 at my company we sometimes ride the scag mower around a couple laps with a blower on our back, and just blow lightly along the top of the grass to fan out those thicker clumps while the mower goes over the grass a second time. Gotta be good with your steering one handed tho lol.

It happens mate. Been in 17 years for me, I think I've broken a window on a car once. Company has it covered, can't prevent it all, I even narrowly missed a car from damage just by pure luck, a golf ball that was hidden in the grass shot out from underneath the deck and missiled towards a car and went over the top of it, I actually lost where it even went.

I was a kid man....I wrote an apology and mailed $3,000 for a new window. I bailed that day. I snuck out the back of the field 😆 I thought I was done for, got a call from the manager a few days later. They wanted me back, and refunded the money. They were laughing at me ducking and weaving between trees to leave on the camera.

I cut some pretty hilly lawns and there are a few that for safety's sake I have to turn around in the drive. That's why I like blacktop driveways better than concrete, can't nobody hardly see your tire marks. Lol. And as far as shorts... if I know I'm going to be doing a ton of trimming or in an area with poison ivy, ect. I will wear pants. Maybe long sleeves. But most days nah, shorts and a tee. I cut off a finger last year and didn't flinch, I'm not worried about some rocks to the shins.

Making sure you are mowing with sharp blades will ensure the best possible manicured look after completing a job and also help "mulch" dispensed clippings if you are not using a bagging mower. Dull blades tend to "break" grass rather than cut it and "dull" the overall look of a lawn the next day because the tip of the grass blade turns brown. Keeping blades sharp makes them last longer as well. Quality landscapers consider daily blade change-outs part of their regular maintenance routine before starting out each morning. A chain hoist and impact wrench with a stack of backup blades make this job much easier and faster each day. All blades can be touched up and balanced on the grinder at the end of the week. When the metal has a "dip" (not straight across) on the business side of the blade, you are waiting too long to sharpen. Of course, always try to stay out of the sand. Sand will destroy your blades quicker than anything I know. A sharp blade is the rule on a 20" walk-behind as well as your 60" Z-machine.

When my yard gets away from me like when I was in the hospital, I cut the yard normaly but slow leaving rows of piled grass. Wait 3 days and do it again after it dries out cutting 90 degrees to the last cut and it's acceptable to me. I feel like I could cut it all day long and it still not look good. After drying it's a different story.

Yeah you covered pretty much all the bad mowing practices , but I hate when I have a line of multiple houses to do and some fertilizer pesticide guy jumps in front of me and sprays one of the lawns...Also hate when the customer runs the irrigation every day especially when they know you are coming .that day...They charge for water uses in some developments so people avoid the cost by installing a well just for irrigation...Almost without exception, everyone who has one of those wells overwaters and it ends up hurting their lawn.

A really annoying thing is not using your legs correctly for the job. Using the snipper and not moving your legs, I see one guy at work stop every 2 steps and swing it around way more than needed. Keeping your legs moving is ideal as the stop swing move method really stuffs up your back, & slows you down.
