Someone did get something stolen from their stroller........their baby! It was a couple from Germany that went to Disneyland with my friend. It was so sad, they had to go back home to Germany without their baby. Their baby was never found.

I hate when people cut the lines. Just had the experience of having a group of kids just entering the line ahead of us in Space mountain then jumping into the Lightning lane as soon as they were out of sight around the corner. Then we had to wait 140 minutes.
@SoCalDisneyDad
@SoCalDisneyDad Жыл бұрын
You know, that’s something I’ve wondered about but have never actually witnessed. WDW has two scan points for lightning lanes so that people can’t do that. There probably just isn’t space at Land. But you’d think they’d make an effort to install them where possible.

My 12 Things to Never Do at Disneyland 1. Do not call Disneyland Staff "Employees" - I'm a Disneyland staff. We are not employees. We are Cast Members. We are a part of the show. 2. Do not use Genie Plus without planning out your day - Genie Plus can be a little complicated for first time users. You are only able to reserve a lightning lane for a ride one at a time. So my advice is reserve one ride that will be in 55 minutes, then ride another ride that the line will be like 30 minutes. (Example: you reserve a LL for Space Mountain at 12:30. It's 11:15 right now, go wait on another ride line that will take 40-50 minutes.) 3. Do not bring bad attitude to the parks - Disney is cracking down on any kind of violent or destructive attitudes. It's family friendly for a reason. 4. Do not use profanity consistently - Disney understands profanity may be in some people's vocabulary or way of talking but don't do it excessively. Like I said, it's family friendly. 5. Do not wait at the last minute to find seats for Parades or Shows - Disneyland can get extremely packed during their parades or fire work shows. If you want a good seat, come early. 6. Do not climb on or damage Disney property - That's a given. 7. Alluded to in the video, do not come to Disneyland without a portable charger - Your phone will drain within the first 2-3 hours you are here. 8. Do not use charging stations at Disneyland - Technically you are allowed to. But because most of the charging stations inside the park also power some rides, it could cause your phone to overheat and break if you're not careful. 9. Do not come without your own water or small snacks - I know it has been said you can't bring outside food, thats false. Just nothing big. If you have water, small sodas, lunch meat or tiny snacks, it's acceptable. 10. Do not plan a trip to Disneyland and expect to stay just a few hours - This plan never goes well. It's already expensive enough to go, to go for just 2 or 3 hours is an instant WTF. 11. Do not bring footwear other than good walking shoes - If you show up in sandals. Your feet is gonna hurt or you may lose them on a ride. If you show up in heels, good luck. Be sure to bring shoes that you are comfortable enough to walk in. 12. Do not leave the park without having a good time

Good list. I would say about the footwear, though-we bring flip flops/sandals for the water rides, specifically Grizzly River Run. Soaked socks are a sure way to get blisters and make your feet stinky.

I always rope drop then leave the parks 1-2pm and return around 5pm. This gives me alone time, a nap, a soak in the hot tub, a long lunch or whatever I need that day. It’s vital for a trip that’s 3 days or more ❤

We love afternoon breaks when we have a hotel in the area (which is maybe 20% of the time, usually we drive up and back home in a single day (1h 45m one way)

@@SoCalDisneyDad you’re both much younger than I am. Anything over a 20 minute drive would make me book a room these days 😂. When I was younger, we would drive 6 hours from the Bay Area, go to Disneyland all day and drive back that night. Crazy! Less than two hours makes sense. Great video, thanks!
@SoCalDisneyDad

@@tinkershell1856 Wow! I don’t think I could have ever done the 6 hour drive without a hotel. We used to live in Florida and WDW was about 6 hours away. We never went fewer than 4 days if we were driving all the way down there. 😂

I am going to put a note on cutting the line. My daughters have had the inevitable bathroom emergency while we are in the line. We spoke to a cast member at wdw on navío river and they said it was ok. I took my daughter to the bathroom and my parents stayed with my eldest daughter in line. When we returned, I called my mom and they were still on the outside part of the queue so I went to the disability entrance and I waited there until my family got close enough. Then, the cast member that spoke to prior to going to the bathroom did let us in to rejoin our party. Just talk to a cast member and, depending on the configuration of the queue, they may let you back in.
@SoCalDisneyDad
@SoCalDisneyDad Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Taking a child for a restroom break is perfectly okay. It happens. My wife did the same thing on Smuggler’s Run. They sent her in the disability entrance (or lightning lane or something) and when me and my oldest son reached the meet-up spot, she was there waiting with my youngest.

We were in line for Radiator Springs Racers.... the week it opened. Lines were every bit of 3 hours plus. There was a young man (16ish) with his much younger brother waiting in front of us. Younger brother got over heated, and his blood sugar was dropping. We saved their spot in that never-ending line while they went to get a bite, some shade, and lots of water. They were gone maybe 45 minutes, but eventually got right back in line in front of us. They were both so grateful, and we were glad to help them out. I'd hope someone would do the same for me if I needed it. 😊

I don’t usually have too much trouble at the Zoo, but we also never go for a full day. If I was there from open to close, I could see needing one. Great advice for the typical visit, and even better for families. Still... When I go alone, I never have an agenda... don't want a plan. I just want to soak it in, hang out, people watch, and snack about. I might ride a few rides, I may not... just depends on the crowd size. I can spend an hour on main street alone, looking into the nooks and crannies, watching Steamboat Willie, catching Lincoln's moments, etc. And I can do the same in every zone.

It's pretty safe with the strollers. Usually, people don't go rummaging through your things. We did lose a bubble wand once. I'm not sure if somebody took it or if it fell out. Also for new visitors... keep in mind that if you park your stroller in a non designated stroller parking area, cast members will move it. It really helps to get a balloon to udentify your stroller too!

There's no reason to be rude and have an attitude of entitlement. Everyone single person there is there to have fun just like you! Being considerate to others just makes being at Disneyland, and every where else, just makes for a more enjoyable day. So even before you go have a plan to not be rushed and pushy and you'll have a great time. If others want to be rude and inconsiderate, that's on them. Don't let others ruin your trip. Be nice. I tried to keep the points pretty rapid fire. If I expanded on that point, I would explained that micromanaging the plan is just as bad as no plan. I only meant that if you don’t l plan what ride you’re going to first thing in the morning you can waste valuable time during those precious morning hours. Without advance mobile ordering desired food items you might miss out on those food items entirely if they sell out. Stuff like that. But yeah, go with the flow during the day. Have a goal, but don’t let it control you. Let it be a guide more than a strict schedule.

It’s basically a fireworks viewing thing. If you’ve ever been to a dessert party, it’s like that but without the dessert. Or if you’ve ever done the Fantasmic package. It’s similar to Hungry Bear’s. Essentially, you get access to the “lounge” for about 4 hours to come and go as you please. The food is from Galactic Grill, which is “meh” in my opinion. You pick it up at Galactic Grill and cart it to the lounge in to-go containers. The only real benefit is not having to camp on Main Street for 2 hours before fireworks.

I’ve seen wheelchair use go either way. If wheelchairs fit in the queue, they will often have you go through the regular queue. However, I’ve also seen wheelchairs come through the exit of attractions and usually in this case you’ve been given a return time. You could apply for DAS (Disability Access Service) and see what happens. If they approve you, it’s basically a free Genie+ on all attractions.

Hi, There's a train that goes around Disneyland right and has multiple stops? Is that a smart use if wanting not to walk everyplace?
@SoCalDisneyDad
@SoCalDisneyDad Жыл бұрын
Not really? The train stations are sort of out of the way. It’s more of a ride. Each stretch of the train has different displays and exhibits to see between stations. You “could” use it as transportation, but it wouldn’t be the primary use of the train. Especially since you can’t take strollers on board. So you need to get off where you got on if you have a stroller.

If you’d be stressed and worried the whole time from 8 AM to 9 AM because you’re riding rides instead of studying, then you aren’t really having fun. But if it’s a low stress situation, you could probably just go have fun for a bit, then find a nice park bench for 20 minutes (provided that’s about the length of the exam).

I was told to arrive 60-70 minutes before rope drop to be able to enter at 8am, is that what you'd recommend? We're going in September this year :)

@SoCalDisneyDad 11 ай бұрын
Only if you want to be at the front front front of the rope drop line. Which only really matters for Rise of the Resistance. The gates don’t even open until 7:20 AM, so there’s really no point in arriving much earlier than that. I tend to arrive around 7:40 AM. If you aren’t heading towards Rise, Peter Pan,or Space Mountain, it really doesn’t matter much when you get there.

I have a question, I had back surgery and can’t stand in lines, I am renting a mobile scooter, question 1 is it appropriate for me to ask for the mobility pass for lines and second do they have outlets for charging in Disneyland
@SoCalDisneyDad
@SoCalDisneyDad Жыл бұрын
Yes! To the mobility pass. Make sure to ask for it. That’s why it’s there. Disney wants you to be able to enjoy your trip as much as possible too. As far as outlets, no. You will need to bring your own phone charger or purchase a fuel rod in the park (still need your own charging cable).

@@SoCalDisneyDad The great thing about the rods is they are all over the park so as soon as your phone starts to get low you just pop over stick a rod in and a brand new fully charged rod pops out for you. You can have a fully charged phone all day long it’s honestly so great.

We go to Disney in large groups….10-16 people. We’re not all going to stand in line waiting for something..show etc. Some go off and do other things…then join the persons who have queued.. What about double buggy’s….we have children of young ages we take double buggy’s…

That behavior is inconsiderate to other guests unfortunately. You should have your whole party together before getting in line for a ride. I’ve gone in large groups like that before too and we will wait for everyone to arrive. If the other half of the party is going to be 20 minutes, we will ride something that’s 20 minutes and then link up afterward.

Are you allowed to copy the Happy Birthday Buttons of Disneyland? Since they are low on supply. Or best to bring your own custom made bday pin? Is it worth it going to DCA on the exact day of your birthdate or we can go a day after our birthdate and miss the freebies?

You can always make your own, but I think we’ve only had one instance where they haven’t had any birthday buttons available. Also, it doesn’t matter if it’s exactly on your birthday. Most of the time we’re there within a few days of a family members bday but rarely on the actual day.

Hi Trevor, I’ve been wanting to ask, we’re visiting in June ( super exciting ). What is the difference between DCA lamplight Lounge and Boardwalk? Is the menu similar? Which is inside? Is the boardwalk the level that has the outside bar and nice view? We aren’t looking for a fancy dinner, but mostly an experience that has a waiter or waitress if that’s a thing. Thanks! Love the videos.
@SoCalDisneyDad
@SoCalDisneyDad Жыл бұрын
So the actual lounge itself is the main restaurant and requires a reservation. There are a few items on the menu there that you can’t get on the boardwalk. You can get on the boardwalk through the walk up wait list but this is also very hard to get. You need to be standing at the location at 11 AM and you need to tap on your phone to join the waitlist ASAP. The availability for this fills up in about 5 minutes. We have reservations for the main restaurant on March 26th. So there will be a full Lamplight Lounge explanation video coming shortly thereafter. You’ll need to make reservations at exactly the 60 day mark to snag one. There are other table service locations that aren’t as coveted and easier to get into. Specifically in DCA there is Carthay Circle and Wine Country Trattoria.

A few things I would add is first, don’t smoke in the parks. This was actually made a rule a few years ago that people can’t smoke anywhere in the parks. If people must smoke they will have to step outside the parks. So if you are a smoker please be courteous to those who aren’t and follow this rule. If you do light up in the parks there is a good chance you will be nabbed and tossed. Second, don’t swear and curse or flip the bird at on ride photo cameras. Remember there are many small children around especially at Disney. Nobody wants to or needs to hear your potty mouth. If you have a habit of cursing all the time please take it somewhere else. Third, don’t take videos on thrill rides. It may be tempting to share your firsthand experience with the rides and attractions on social media, but this is prohibited because especially on thrill rides this is dangerous. If you record on attractions like It’s a Small World, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. the cast members might let it slide and not do anything. But if you are seen pulling out your phone on Incredicoaster, you will absolutely be stopped. Think about it. A dropped camera or phone would not only be lost for good and destroyed, but it could become a high speed projectile that could seriously injure or kill somebody. Would you really want to be responsible for that? Finally, especially for guys, do not hit on the princesses. They’re not there to flirt or pick up dates. So don’t try to put inappropriate moves on them, ask them out, ask for their numbers or try to slip them yours (they certainly won’t be interested and you will never hear back from them). Don’t be the next story of a creepy guy who has a lengthy ban from Disneyland for stalking one or more of the princesses.

And please, use something smaller than an iPad to take photos/videos. Okay, full disclosure. We are table savers at restaurants. One will get the table while the other picks up our mobile order. We're not holding them for more than 10 minutes at most. I'll also ask people if we can join them (since there are just two of us).

Rope drop. That’s going to be crucial. Go to either Indiana Jones or Space Mountain first. Grab a lightning lane for the opposite attraction. So if you go to Space first, grab one for Indiana Jones. Or vice versa. After you’ve ridden both rides, grab a Lightning lane for Haunted Mansion and go ride Big Thunder Mountain. It should be like a 15-20 minute wait at best around 8:45 AM, which is what I assume the time will be at this point. If Haunted Mansion LL is available by the time you’re done with Big Thunder, ride it. If not, go to Rise of the Resistance. Provided that it didn’t break at all that morning, 9 AM is the best time to stand by (since you said you don’t want ILL rides). If it broke that morning, the ILLs will drive the standby wait higher than usual, but rope dropping wouldn’t have saved you time because it would have broke on you. So bottom line is avoid that ride until 9 AM at the earliest. After you finish Haunted Mansion, grab a LL for Mickey and Minnie’s. Honestly, once you finish Mickey and Minnie’s, you shouldn’t have any trouble getting LLs for anything else you want (Smuggler’s, Matterhorn, Star Tours). You can also use LLs for rides you did standby like Space Mountain and Big Thunder later in the day so you can ride these twice.

I would say the best course of action would be to wait for everyone if some have gone to the restroom. If they need a “surprise” restroom break while waiting in the line. Someone can exit, take them, and return. But generally at that point the cast will have you stand at the handicap access and wait for your party. I think it’s fine if one person is parking the stroller to send the rest through. The one parking the stroller will be along very shortly. As opposed to 5 minutes later and have to really push through the line. If that makes sense.

Should you do a dining Experience inside Disneyland? We don't instead we do this: Just remember that Disneyland has lots of other great dinner experiences, outside of their theme park, that you can attend on your “non- theme park” days. The average Disney theme park ticket, with Genie plus, and taxes runs an average of $140.00 per day. Most guests average 8 to 10 hours in the park. At 10 hours that averages out to $14.00 per hour. So sitting in the theme park restaurant for 2 hours is costing $28.00 per person of your time in addition to the expensive meal. Additionally, the number #1 reason for taking time off work, flying, renting a car, and hotel, is to enjoy the theme parks in the first place. So if you include those costs, the hourly expense in the theme parks is really a lot higher!! So make sure you use your theme park time wisely. For example Goofy's Kitchen is located at the Disneyland Hotel. You do not need a "theme park ticket" to go to this themed dinner experience. There is a different parking lot and the restaurant will Validate 3 hours of free parking. The characters come to your table! No lines! The food is great. So take a day off from back to back theme parks, take your time, and enjoy this dining experience.
