Thank you for sharing your video. Good information here. I use the microwave kilns and have done something similar using stainless steel cookie cutters lined with thin fire paper and I think your techniques after the initial fire can be applied there as well.

What a beautiful pendant. Thanks so much for sharing. Question? Could you possibly incorporate ashes into one of these pendants? Maybe under the first dichroic layer?

Hi! Any recommendations for polishing my fused glass? When I pull it from the kiln it’s a bit hazy until I add water. Once the water dries it’s hazy again..

Hi Barbara. If a fire polish schedule is not fixing the problem then it sounds like you have devitrification (devit). Try this method to fix it www.bullseyeglass.com/besides-sandblasting-how-can-i-remove-devit.html. You can see how to avoid devit in my video number 13 timeframe 24:39. Hope this helps :)

Yes, you can follow the firing schedule in the description. All kilns vary but this should be a good starting point for you. Remember to soak in vinegar and water first as per my video 13. :)

Hi. I have have been successfully making hearts using your video techniques and this mold. I found that I needed to hold at 1480 F for 30 minutes to fully melt the glass. Hah, I thought that I was being smart by cutting the mold in half to use only the hearts in the mold. The result was my glass was fried and stuck to the mold. Do you know anything about what happens when the glass is full fused too long ?
@ArtsandCraftsTI
@ArtsandCraftsTI Жыл бұрын
Hi 120lana. I too have a mold I cut in half. The reason your glass stuck was probably because you did not have enough kiln wash on it. You are correct with your firing schedule. The schedule I have in my description is just for a fire polish not full fuse. Hope this helps :)

Hello Wanda. I dont have a problem with kiln wash sticking to the bottom of the pendants. Maybe its the make of kiln wash that you use, its strange. You could try using a nail brush or scourer with water to remove it, or a fine sanding block. Hope this helps :)

Can you please give me your firing schedule? I have tried to use these mold but the pieces always have thousands of little tiny bubbles.
@ArtsandCraftsTI
@ArtsandCraftsTI 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa. For the initial fire I use the full fuse schedule at the following link. For the final tack fuse I use the tack fuse schedule. This link does show a bubble squeeze schedule you could try. Did you use large pieces of dichroic and clear as I did, or did you use frit? Larger pieces create less bubbles. Frit creates lots of bubbles. Hope this helps. :) www.warm-glass.co.uk/images/pdfs/products/Basic%20Firing%20Schedules%20for%20most%20kilns.pdf

Do you ever fuse a wire into a piece of glass to create your own finding? I have found that glued findings often fall off.
@ArtsandCraftsTI
@ArtsandCraftsTI 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes this is entirely possible and a great option. In my video 11 I show how I glue on my bails and I dont have any knowledge of them coming off from the ones I have sold or the ones I still have. I find if they are going to come off, they will when I do my first test as shown in the video. In this video I also show an option to make your own bails out of wire and these glue on really well because the glue can get right between the wires creating a good bond. Hope this helps :)
