they forgot that the Agera R's Power to weight is superb (the reason why it's able to pull away from a 1200hp Veyron on rolling starts), also the aerodynamic design is much smoother/flowing than the Veyron's :) on top of that the Veyron is nearly 5000lb's which doesn't help it at all in the acceleration department even with 4WD. :D

That said, and because you absolutely right about the weight problem, we should also remind that the Veyron is a project with more that 10yrs. I also think the Veyron is an hipercar with a more GT feeling, rather than a brutal and pure hipercar like the Agera, Huayra, LaFerrari, P1, etc. And well, the Agera has destroyed everyone in drag racing, so it is not a surprise. Less 250BHP but 500kg lighter for the Agera... There are no miracles...

the Agera and the others were built with speed in mind as we both know, but that's why they're designed the way they are so that drag is minimum. so aerodynamics of the Agera does play a role as well for it's purpose of attaining a low drag/high downforce with the aerodynamics it has, which helped it's acceleration. the Veyron was about style and or elegance, the aerodynamics for that is to make sure it can sustain itself on the road at speed with all that power. unfortunately the design isn't without it's drag drawback. none the less it's a sufficient design. Miracles happen, just not often. many thought the Veyron couldn't be beaten, but a miracle has happened and it has been beaten. :) I've added in the drag a car deals with as it pertains to the aerodynamic of a vehicle. A perfect example is a paper airplane and a brick, with a airplane you need less power to get it going fast while a brick needs a lot of power to get moving fast, as the aerodynamics of the plan cuts through air with minimal resistance/drag. while the brick has to fight the air and has much more resistance/drag to contend with as it's going so it needs more power to go the distance a paper airplane did with minimal power. the Veyron has been known as the brick of the supercars due to it's size and weight. :D I think I said too much... XD feel free to correct if needed, we all learn everyday. it never stops. :)

TheScribe your a blind fanboy. The agera stopped accelerating, after beating the bug that had a head start. It's old. Heavy. And boring. You'll never have one.

Agera, like lot other supercars is pretty rough in slow city traffic - veyron is not. Veyrons huge engine and 4 turbos gives very linear powerband so it can cruise around at 10km/h as easily as doing 300km/h. Inside agera its really really noisy even when just cruising - veyron is not - proper sound dampening adds a lot of weight. Basically when doing drag race and excluding drivers ability to shift and grip (wich is not an issue with rolling start) then it all comes down to power to weight ratio - 2 tonne car with 1000HP is always going to be slower than 1,5 tonne car with 1000HP. The difference between those is same as difference between Aston Martin and Lamborghini - one is performance and numbers oriented and other is fast GT cruiser. When they made veyron the goal was to make GT car that can do 400km/h - it was never designed to outcorner ariel atom or be faster from something to something and some other superlight very powerful car. Theres a good reason why they didn't just take viper engine, put huuuge turbos on it to make 1500HP and call it a day. BTW - koenigsegg uses its completely own engine block - CC8 was the last where they used modified ford block. From CCX it has been their own custom block.

Ah, Good points. But something I have to disagree with you. Agera have 800NM of torque at 3000-8000RPM max tq 1000NM at 4500rpm, Bugatti have 1251NM at 2200rpm max tq 1500NM at somewhere 3000 not sure. Of cause those tq only available at full throttle. But that's also tell you even you normally step on the throttle, that amount of tq still have the impact. Comes to Linear, the biggest disadvantage for being more linear is torque! Is fine to have torque at wider revving band, but it really depends on how much torque you have. Agera R have 300NM less average tq and arrive a bit later than Veyron. They both won't create any linear thrust. They create lots of jump in power! Linear engine should perform like Ferrari 458, max tq arrive at 6500rpm and max tq at 9000rpm, MOST IMPORTANT less torque. In other word, being linear shouldn't let the torque to be your main force to get horsepower. high RPM should be the main tool to get HP which Agera and Bugatti wouldn't like, they are all about acceleration, create as much torque as possible as early as possible. Agera R did weight a lot lighter and have the advantage in p/w ratio, but Veyron is a dual clutch AWD 8L W16 4 Turbo, Agera R is also a dual clutch but one in put shaft only and RWD. Less weight distribution+ RWD 5L V8 twin turbo, will never good at launching. The problem isn't about the power, is about Veyron's engine! 8L W16 4 Turbo 10 intercooler=1200hp??????? If you talks about city cruising, Agera R would be the choice, because Agera R have better fuel mileage, Euro IV, out standing stability and still giving you the head pushing by RWD layout. Noise? um..no. You won't flat out in the middle of downtown, right?

ROCKETGUNS BOOMBS Agera does have extremely awesome torqueband - basically it makes more torque at idle than some sportcars at their peak. Also I made a mistake by typing linear - what I meant was wide powerband. But still, it has been said in reviews that Agera doesn't like those rolling traffic jam speeds just like the aventadore or some other supercars. And it it extremely noisy - again some supercar engine sound like they are under the stress all the time - even when lifting off. In case of veyron it has been pointed out numerous times that it makes very little sound considering the engine - even when you look at the launch videos theres just some muffled low gurgling sound. Again - what makes veyron special is that it was built to last or in other words it was built to used as a daily driver. I don't know any case of veyron breaking down and some veyrons have more than 100k on their speedo wich is insane for thatkinda car. At the same time if you do bit of research there has been numerous problems with koenigseggs. The Veyrons engine runs at 1200HP but it has been tested to be good for 3000HP. So its bulletproof. Overall they just are such a different cars that its unfair to compare them one to one. Veyron is built like a super high tech tank - its heavy, its powerful and it shoudl never break down. Koenigsegg is more like F1 car - light, hugely powerful but must be handled with care because at the same time its also kinda fragile.

Agera R can't perform as gentle as Bugatti is because of its power to weigh, and extreme boost set by AFR and ECU. E,G. Bugatti using 90hp in a jam, Agera R also using 90hp, the agera R will accelerate twice the speed as Bugatti. That's the down side of Agera as a daily car. N yes, all those reliability advantage goes to Bugatti. I agree that. Bugatti engine can max 3000hp. Yes. But they need to decrease 1800hp for cooling and also need 10 coolers. Engine perform gigantic power is a good thing, but can you actually use it is the point. Bentley either, 5998cc W12 TT and needs 30hp decrease for cooling down and the actual hp drops from 651-631hp.

On both case the Veyron is at its disadvantage. Numbers say the Veyron is faster 0-200 while the Agera R is faster 0-300 and 0-400. At least we should see the Veyron win 0-200.

Standing start to about 60mph the Vitesse accelerates quicker, but it's left behind after that with a much smaller engine mind you.

you are right about everything but the aerodynamics... sadly you have no understanding about it. you take a 4k pound car and it has a higher top speed than the 3k pound car.. why is this.. because of aerodynamics. to this day there has yet to be a car engineered to the caliber of the Bugatti Veyron. the agera might be faster but only till about 230. then the Bugatti's aerodynamics come into play.

Mike have you ever watched the making of the Veyron? It was on National Geographic and they said the hardest part of building this car was sticking to the shape it has. they did that because the powers that be said it had to look just like the concept. they also pointed out how un aerodynamic the Veyron is. The Veyron has a cd of .38 .39 depending which model you get...a dodge ram has an aerodynamic rating of .37 the Agera is at .31 which makes it more aerodynamic. They Agera R has never had its top speed confirmed either because they have not been able to get to a test track capable of doing so yet nor have they been able to get a long enough straight enough road shut down to test it. And gearing comes into play as well as aero does with top speed. I understand this very well as I have been a member of a pit crew for a sprint car racing.

The Agera models are also only powered by V8's, compared to the Veyron with a V16. Basically, larger is not always better.

Victor Blixt you're right it's not. lighter is always better, bikes are proof enough. The Agera R is half a tonne lighter and produces 1140 hp. Only disadvantage: it's not AWD.

Victor Blixt Actually it's an advantage. As much as I love my AWD systems, they are heavy, and throwing out the AWD gets your 20%* of the way to your half a tonne lighter. (*20% thrown out as a factious number, trolls need not critique the accuracy of said number)

True actually. They're very heavy. But it is difficult to launch with so much power put on the two rear wheels only, but still, if built right, with enogh downforce and especially driver skills, it's better in any way :)

Where did it ever beat it to 124mph.... The Bugatti would have been ahead the entire time considering the Mclaren is a nearly second slower to 60mph, and 0-100mph still 1.1 seconds slower where every you heard that was fooling you.

yesac101 I dunno about quickest to 124mph, but watch the drag race Top Gear carried out between the McLaren F1 & the Veyron. The McLaren was actually quicker off the line, but the Veyron did win by a couple of car lengths, over a 1 mile drag race, from a standing start. It was a lot closer than I expected. A lot of it came down to weight, because newer cars require more safety features thus adding more weight. In the end though, the sheer power of the Veyron won out over the McLaren, but considering the McLaren is 13 years older than the Veyron, it's amazing that it kept up. Must have been humbling viewing for Bugatti. Another example of this is on a Top Gear, or Jeremy Clarkson DVD (can't remember which). They did a drag race between a Jaguar XJ220 and the fastest (at that time) Pagani Zonda and the Jaguar hammered the Zonda. Back to this video though: Once the Agera gets that power down, NOTHING is catching it. Just a pity they can't properly test it's top speed, because VW are too scared that it'll annihilate the Veyron.

GamingAndMore top did tests and yes they have stated as a company that they are aware of the size and weight of the car but it is because of the size of motor and simply the design of the car.

The Koenigsegg is far from a kit car. Saying that is pure bs. The Koenigsegg is true craftmanship and high tech. It has now beaten the much more expensive Bugatti over and over. When you say it has no comfort I must ask: how many Koenigsegg have you driven?

Christian Olsen True. I saw a documentary about Koenigsegg on Discovery or National Geographic. Beautiful how he managed to conquer all setbacks and problems on a continuous base. Inspirational really.

UPDATE : Koenigsegg holds the record for fastest production car with the Agera RS holding a average speed of 277.9MPH. the highest it hit in the first run on the navada highway was 286.5MPH
