Trivia answes: 1. That is the Tesla Tower or Wardenclyffe Tower built by Nikola Tesla and backed by J.P. Morgan to wirelessly transmit messages and power transportation from the earth to the air. Located on Long Island in the village of Shoreham, New York :-). The property has been for sale but was saved by a group hoping to have a museum at the site in the future. In 2018, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places! 2. The 1975 Sebring-Vanguard Citicar :-)

I don't ride a bicycle, but having an electric adult tricycle would make it easier for me to get around, especially when I have to go shopping. I don't mind if I have to pedal it in order to get the electric motor to kick in. The greedy oil companies and coal mining companies need to understand that the sun has been providing energy for centuries, so I would rather depend on it rather than using fossil fuels.

Mind's eye designs. I have always wondered why, as far as I know, no one has harnessed the world's sea's tidal flow, as It's a massive amount of energy going unharnessed. I have one or two thoughts to achieve power this way. It wouldn't be too challenging to accomplish this Ideolagie; I am confident this would be a worthwhile project, saving a massive amount of energy worldwide. It is a natural phenomenon that occurs every day worldwide.

On the contrary - power generation from tidal, current, or wave-motion has been a topic of serious inquiry for quite some time. the Netherlands has a significant project in production and a number of other projects are funded for serious field trials. one of the serious problems using ocean-flow is avoiding injury to marine life while at the same time avoiding flow blockage from debris and, eg, kelp and seaweed. the essential problem, though, is that while there is an immense amount of energy in ocean flows, the volumetric energy density is low. Collecting a lot probably implies a large collector. One idea that has appeared recently is using the floating base of an offshore wind turbine as a mount for an ocean-flow generator. Given the number of offshore turbines being deployed in Europe the prospect of using that infrastructure for a second energy collector is an intriguing idea.

Just a few problems with solar: Solar power requires a lot of mining of rare materials to make it feasible in a large scale; costs of it is not affordable for low income families; we don't know of large scale effects of solar farms (yes solar farms have been reported to have some environmental impact not much but there are some impacts)
@mindseyedesign3 жыл бұрын
What mining do solar panels require? Most solar panels are made of silicon, which is the main component in natural beach sand. Silicon is abundantly available, making it the second most available element on Earth. However, converting sand into high grade silicon comes at a high cost and is an energy intensive process. So can solar panels be recycled? The short answer is yes. Silicon solar modules are primarily composed of glass, plastic, and aluminum: three materials that are recycled in mass quantities. It comes down to recycling. Like batteries which are also recyclable, many times over, neet to be properly disposed of and recycled. Several electric car companies like Tesla and others are providing batteries that last a lifetime with 500k to 1 million miles in range. Last July, a team of three researchers from the University of Texas reported the results from tests using a new cathode chemistry that eliminates cobalt entirely. They used their nickel-rich cathode in a small experimental lithium-ion pouch cell about the size of a deck of cards. Although the battery had a slightly lower energy density than typical cobalt batteries, it was able to operate at higher voltages and at similar charge rates. Even after 1,000 full charge-discharge cycles-the typical lifetime for a commercial battery-the experimental cell performed as well as comparable cells with cobalt cathodes.
@SuperJMichael3 жыл бұрын
@@mindseyedesign Solar panels are nit recyclable. They are also very environmentally unfriendly to make. Check out the giant solar collector farm in California left to rot and to poison the ground as it was too expensive to run and maintain and did not provide the energy needed in California so they had massive blackouts because it is not an energy source that can be cycled to meet energy demand fluctuations.

One other problem will be as the autos become electric and compete for batteries with bicycles, who has more money to control the market, auto makers or bike manufacturers? e-bikes may suffer from a lack of buying power in the battery market. The solution may be to design using a standard battery pack rather than the mfg custom pack. Then a common battery size would enhance the replacement industry.

If they want people to switch from internal combustion cars they need to make e-cars and bikes more affordable for the general public....
@Wog682 жыл бұрын
Sad thing is that despite existence of internal gear hubs such as rohloff and pinion boxes and belt drives from gates, most manufacturers used same old Al cheappo parts and priced high because it had motor and batteries added. So, $50-100 ordinary generic bike now cost $1000 - 3000 while bikes with some design element (but mostly same old diamond frame style) with brand name batteries and motor, which are few would be priced from $4000 - 10000. So, for average consumers nothing much changes, once registration, road rules and insurance mandate is introduced.

Why doesn't anyone design a vehicle that charges while moving? One motor to produce electricity and charge the battery, the other motor to run the vehicle and the motor to generate electricity and thus recharge the battery while the vehicle is in motion or better yet the battery would be used only to start the motor while one would produce electricity and initiated another engine, something of a symbiosis system. The concept is quite simple and the use would be unlimited and almost self-sustaining. Sorry for the bad English and for the bad presentation of the idea, I'm a layman so I can't explain it professionally.
@mahoshing52482 жыл бұрын
It is conceivable that the true breakthrough will come when instead of taking the solar plant with the vehicle, it simply access the power which is generated by the roads or rail system. This will make the vehicle much lighter, yet at the same time contribute to the Kinetic mechanical energy which becomes the backup power for those same vehicles
@marro45992 жыл бұрын
The metal tower that is shown is a Tesla distribution station. These towers would be located every few blocks in a neighborhood and would emit DC electrical power through the air that would be picked up by your house appliances, such as frig, washing machine or lighting.
