As someone who uses cats eye gel quite a lot (on my actual nails lol) black is always most recommended as a back/base colour as it shows the magnetised effect just that bit more but getting that effect with the magnet is always a hit or a miss. You can also manipulate the cats eye effect with different sides of the magnet too as well as place the magnet UNDER the specific piece you’re working on at the time (if doing uv or one piece at a time)

Hi Daniel,, the oval one before you showed the colored ones I think is the best one,, I've ordered some cats eye nail polish in spectrum as the colors look a bit more vibrant, I think it might have glitter in it too not sure,, and got a uv resin, but was unable to get the Lets resin brand, that I really wanted, but this resin is low on bubbles , plus I got extra magnets, with differant designs,, and a 3 mould set ofa frog snail and lizard,, for apoxy 2 part resin,, I on order and arriving Tomorrow. Hopefully. I used chameleon flaked from lets resi on a pug mould that i did a few months bk he turned out gorgeous, and the colors were all color changing and a few years ago around 2 year ago I did the same thing with an octopus mould never had a problem with them,, so I'm going to experiment with the cats eye nail polish sparingly, see what I come up with,, take care have a great week.😊❤

Hi Daniel. Absolutely beautiful! ?CONSIDER THIS: I wonder if you could experiment with the magnet from the front/bottom side of the mold, as this will become the finished side of the pieces? I only noticed the magnet was used on the top side which will subsequently be the back of the pieces, so it is possible especially for weaker or darker colours you're pulling the vibrancy of the polishes the wrong way/to the wrong side and hence being left with that greyish look.... I would love to see if the white background can be worked out to be like a surprise flash of opal. Thanks for your vids! 🙂

@Daniel Cooper WOW, these are really beautiful, Daniel! 😊👍💕 Very mysterious depths and colors. I did get the set! Hoping we can get the blue one, too, at some point. Using the mirror worked...and gave me an idea (below). 😁 *** But, Dan, what did you do to that 1st smaller blue heart one with "the backing"? I've had a second play-through, but you only mention "the backing" that you painted on "instead of topping it up with black", but you never say what you used for that backing? At about 12:35 ish, you said "Next time, I'll try back-coating them with the ..." Whatever you used worked beautifully! 💕👍 I agree...the mica powders...sadly, it's a nope. Very pretty, but they overwhelm the polish. Darn! It would be really cool to see how these "play" with alcohol ink! Epoxy? UV? Oof, more experiments! IDEAS: Paint the back with more magnetic nail polish and see if that enhances the depth? Paint the backs with a chrome pen to act as a mirror?

Love your videos! I have a couple of questions for you if you don’t mind. Can I do something similar to the nail polish but use Camilion mica’s instead? In other words use the regular resin with the mica but just put drops in like you did with the nail polish. I would let the regular resin sit for awhile before I added the micas. No need for UV resin that way I think? I would also like to know what you sprayed in the mold. Yours come out very shiny so is that spray the trick? PS: I’m not making jewelry. I’m making magnets.

@LouiseSingletonCreations uses JDiction products all the time - take a look at her channel - she's very friendly and you'll quite likely get a reply from her. 😊 *EDIT:* I've just checked and Lou did a video 3 wks ago on the complete JDiction range of resins so check that out! It sounds to me that it's not curing for long enough - it's possibly too thick, or your lamp hasn't got enough welly. To clarify, if UV resin is tinted too dark, it can't fully cure as it blocks the light from the UV lamp, in case that is something you're trying...
