About the cheating in the board exams, Jaby seemed pretty surprised. Stuff like this did happen back in the day in some government-funded schools (not all, of course). Especially considering how remote and secluded this village was, it's no shock that this happened. For the poor, only the degree mattered, and for politicians, the track record of their area mattered. I am glad we have come a long way since this. :)

I related to this movie so much as i too tried for UPSC. Thia movie has captured the real essence of what goes on in this world. How difficult it is to clear it. Sadly i couldn't make it past prelims even though i had coaching. But I've seen people like these who are helpless but are still giving their best and working hard.

Outstanding film. Arguably the best of this year.. great music, direction, performances and visuals. Kudos to Medha S for acting and singing so well. Vikrant is a gem! Supporting cast was excellent too. And the musical background themes were great. Indian instruments for Vikrant and western for Medha. And gorgeous end theme with his home/village theme music and her western instruments

@@goal-iit6511dude movies like tumbbad or 12th fail are considered underrated because they didn't get as much attention as other mass movies ( not even 10% ) . Like although tumbbad is considered as a underated masterpiece but it only did a business of 13.75 cr when it came out ( and even when government were sending movies for oscar they literally chose gully boy rather than tumbbad ) now same is happening with 12th fail . You can see movies like Pathan , jawaan earned 1000cr + movies like animal , gadar 2 earned 500cr+ but 12th fail wasn't even able to earn 100cr that's why it's underrated. Just like tumbbad after the release on ott people starting to realise how good this movies is

The grandmother character was so visionary she new her blood will stood for righteousness but manoj's mother wants to compromise it for better living conditions which will further result in lineage going no where. She sees hope in Manoj after her +2 and college so she saved money so that even one of her grand son who have potential to do something should not get wasted. So futuristic and well planned and that's typical mother thing in India those days especially. She looked mean but her work and sacrifice was what made him big man at the end uplifting his community and whole family.

This reminds me of my own days in Delhi prepping for exams...and what they say is true about how Education is the great equalizer...i saw kids from all backgrounds rich and poor studying together and helping each other abnd it didnt matter who was rich or poor, whose father was whatnot, the only thing that mattered was how good you were at studies...if you were good at studies, regardless of your background everyone would respect you..my time there made me respect everyone so much...and you make genuine friends with people of all background like in this movie because when you are prepping for an exam like this, you are so academically enlightened that all of the caste religion divison that everyone has put upon you in this country just washes away and you see others just as a fellow human and nothing else

I think they got taken down. I'm guessing because even Animal Part 1 got taken down due to a copyright strike by T-series. I do remember that the other 2 parts of 12th Fail were released. I'm late too. I hadn't seen the movie till today. Now I'm gonna miss out on their reactions! Hoping to get some confirmation man.
