@@djpitr it’s in quesnel, Canada. That’s is where the gold rush started in Canada so a nice history of gold. I make my stuff just for myself too because I love to build things. I made an attachment for the gold cube that should do really well. All 12 volt pumps and a water turbine for power.

Not to down it, its a very nice set up but the spray bars, u should make them across the top maybe 2 rows but looks like u mite b spraying ur gold out, or make the sluice longer to catch the gold Like the set up though

Like #31

If you want a few tips, check out Chris Ralph, Vo-Gus prospecting, THE GOLD MINER, Alan Robinson. I live north east Victoria, lots of prospecting areas. Near the golden triangle. Nice bush land. Central Victoria is metal detecting, where I am is river panning and sluicing. Reedy Creek vo-gus talks about is about 40min. Rushworth is about 50min. Bendigo is 2hrs drive. Australia a great place to see. Russell

@@djpitr maybe one day catch up. I did not know sorry. It always learning hobbie. The best time for Victoria is Nov, Dec. Feb is hot and can knock you around and fires. Gumtrees are full of oil and go off. Mar to April great. Put Ballarat (sovereign Hill theme park) and Bendigo on your list. Inglewood good place not too much rubbish. Rushworth full but you can find. Chewton near Castlemaine. I stay at whallala is a must, do the train and climb to cricket pitch. Graves bodies are standing. Put on your list Great Ocean road. Tower Hill, Port Fairy. You have a practical and super portable setup there Peter. And I see you posted links to the components. Spot on! Was that a 7" wide sluice? I'm about to ask how much the battery took in the following charge and how long you ran it for? I'm thinking the metric here is watts per hour per inch of sluice width.
@djpitr
@djpitr 4 жыл бұрын
Sluice is 6” wide , the top it’s 8” to 7” , this battery is little expensive, it’s only 20amh , the pumps in video are the cheep ones , they draw 5amp/h each , I upgraded to better pumps they are 3amp/h each

Small 35amp lawnmower battery would work great for 6 hours constant running
@phisquared6187
@phisquared6187 4 жыл бұрын
@@djpitr So about 5 to 10Ah does average 6 to 8" sluice. Round average 7amps/hour for average 7 inches width. An amp per inch per hour. Plus spare to not ruin the battery by deep discharge. No ability to wash out big oversize, (you use manual assistance for that) but clearly enough to wash unclassified material. The pump load will be volume x resistance x height. Resistance will be tube diameter, not much to do there. Minimising height to lift the water becomes key because it is easier to reduce by creativity. You had the highbanker already in the river which makes good sense by reducing lift = reducing power consumption. Low profile designs will; go longer on a given battery. So my drawings will change again I think to take this into account. I looked into brushless pumps. Nothing significant available in the retail market. But BL will double efficiency. I considered making a thrust nozzle with a model marine prop in a tube and BL outrunner powering it. The speed controller and throttle (a servo tester probably) are vulnerable kit exposed to damage. That way is complicated but not unsurmountable. For a brushless motor power double or a duration double it will probably get tried at some stage. Higher voltage would reduce amps for more efficient and cooler components, esp if inside protective covering they need to be kept as cool as possible. That means a high Volt low KV motor driving a DIY pump "might" do 2 inches per amp. So 8" sluice at 4A per Hr x 5 Hrs = 20Ah plus say 1/3 spare capacity = 25-30Ah 24V battery might be a basic rule of thumb. You have given me loads of info to work with Peter. Many thanks. My next winter project is getting clearer!

@@phisquared6187 love it brother , looks like you know what you talking about :) yeh the lithium battery have built in safety when it’s voltage drops to 10v it completely shuts of so you can destroy it , the Johnson pumps are great , more efficient, and you right I can’t find right PM pump anywhere, good idea of use of trolling PM motor to make pump , they efficient

After these comments, I decided what ignorant I was. I bought a 3500 gp 12 v pump. I was thinking of running it with a child motor battery, and if I do that, I understand that I will burn the battery, am I right, sir?
@djpitr
@djpitr Жыл бұрын
Well no , u will not “burn” the battery .. bud it will not last long ! Probably 10 min :) , you can calculate how many amps the pump pulling per hour , and the numbers on your battery tells you how manny amps per hour u have , to keep the battery healthy you don’t want to pull more then 50% of your battery amps before you recharge it again, if you use lead acid battery
