I just did mine, I found that the best way was to take the needle and bend it to about a 30-45 degree angle and use a non-flexible pipe out of the grease gun.

I bought the Lincoln 5806 6" Grease Needle Nozzle 1/8" NPT Female Thread from ebay and you can grease the joint without bending the needle and I was able to use my grease gun that has the flexible hose, I have a 2018 2500 and it has the manual shift for the transfer case so my shaft doesn't turn all the time but only when it's in 4 wheel drive. I have read in some of the comments that the shaft turns all the time but that's not true. If you can turn your shaft by hand without your front tires off the ground then you don't have to worry as much about the joint compared to one that turns all the time but I still grease mine every time I chg my oil.

One day I’ll finally grease that fitting. Even bought the right tip for it but have yet to do it in 100k miles.

I talked to a driveline specialist about this joint he recommended since this joint actually moves up and down (slightly) with the suspension it’s always good to at least have grease inside. Add a couple squirts at least once a year if you use your four-wheel-drive often put three or four squirts every oil change (or until new grease comes out the backside every oil change

My 2012 3500 also has the fitting on front driveshaft.

I can confirm that my dealership DID NOT service that joint during oil change. When I questioned them after seeing no grease, they said they didn't have the correct tools to grease that joint so they just ignored it. So much for their complimentary oil change following Ram's service instructions. That was 6 years ago. They haven't touched my truck since then except for recalls.

Ive watched about 6 of these "grease your Ram front drive shaft" videos. Always shows the grease point location and fresh grease AFTER the job is complete. Hav'nt found one yet that actually shows anyone greasing this thing.

Thanks for showing that up close, it gets overlooked too often. At the dealership I work at, we always grease that. It's been our standard procedure for many years. If your dealership doesn't know about it, there is something seriously wrong with them. We've seen what happens when people don't grease their driveshafts. It's not pretty. Can even write the truck off with frame and floor damage. Sorry to say but it's often the DIY'ers and Quick oil change places who overlook that.

Do these have free spinning front shafts until you lock in 4wd? Looked at one today and could spin it 360 degrees while truck was on. My older 04 5.9 stays locked in 24/7 i keep it off in the summer for better mileage and saves some life of that joint.

Please pardon my ignorance, but at about 5:35 in the video where you described lubricating the track bar it looks like you are showing control arm with grease zerk fittings. Are these grease fittings stock? I don't seem to have them on my 2018 3500 DRW 4x4. Excellent view of the drive shaft lubrication fitting. The video made doing mine a breeze.

I asked the dealership to do it and they put on the repair order they they couldn’t find any fittings to grease it! I’ll keep that for when it fails and I make them replace it!!

Hv 18 ram 2500, trying to find grease point for rear u joint. None I can find, is that never lube joint?

Just picked up my truck and barely got it home 1500 down the drain, vp44 pump and lift pump were bad from the factory I told the mechanic that's bs. Truck is dying when coming to a stop, rpms bouncing around.

I spray the underside with fluid film.

5500's do not have a grease fitting on the front drive shaft, both on my 15' and 20'.

Do you raise up front wheel to spin shaft. Will look for mine. Right 120k. Thanks.

Off topic. But I have a brand new 2018 3500 srw with the aisin. Got truck with only 10 miles on it. It now has 500. My trans shifts out of first way to soon. Like 1400 rpm, if that. Then as soon as it shifts to second, I get some pretty bad shudder for like a second. Sometimes it's barely noticeable. Much more pronounced when pulling a trailer or taking a sharp turn from a dead stop while it shifts to into second. Then it's fine right up until it shifts from 4th to 5th. It shifts into forth for a split second then immediately into 5th. Is this normal for the 2018 aisin? Or do I have something wrong with my trans? Plan on taking it to the dealer soon. But figured I ask here first. Thanks in advance

I cannot for the life of me find either the stickers or the zerks on my 2019 3500. Does it not have them? The owners manual just says "for vehicles equipped"
