why not round the upper becket down to one of the lower backets then back up to another then you’ve got a 8:1

The hauling part of the rope must go through the centre sheeve so not to pull the block on an angle when rounding in.

Yes, the reason is so the rope doesn’t pull the block on an angle. This will reduce friction of the rope on the Sheeve.

the reason this is tought this way is to ensure that none of the falls cross over which creates friction. if there is another way on how to explain rigging a three fold purchase I would be very interested in seeing it.

@@glenpnoman8510 Same here. Hard to keep track of when right or left is side of component or sheave relative to center sheave. It appears the end result is correct though that is somewhat obscured by being recorded in portrait mode which somewhat limits its effectiveness.
