You made an assumption about resist that its only when challenging but according to Ravensburger/Disneylorcana resist is any damage dealt (getting around tink and swords). That said I think that Cinderella already fits nicely into SteelSong and seems quite powerful overall. Im excited to see what else set 2 brings!

@@ssteadfastanother thing as well, I'm assuming that it's on every instance of damage dealt. You made a comparison that a 4 willpower unit with resist is like a 6 willpower, but in reality your opponent may need 2-3 different cards to take it down, making it effectively an 8-10 willpower card which is absurd

I’m actually really looking forward to Tiana with fishbone quill - that way you are able to empty your hand quickly for her ability or turn her into ink in matchups where you don’t need her. I could also see her in an aggro shell where she provides amazing protection from be prepared, grab your sword, etc.

Here are a few corrections: ----Merlin: He does not proc off of Dr Facilier, Mickey, or Marshmallow because those involve the characters being banished. ----Cinderella & Tiana: Resist also works on Actions, not just Character Challenges.

Tianma is currently the only card in the game that can protect your board from be prepared. That's definitely a real enough reason to consider playing her.

You really think so? Most of the time I would rather my opponent have an empty hand than wipe the board. Her stopping Be Prepared also means you have find and hold a 4-cost uninkable up until turn 7 and also play every other card you have. That feels so horrible to just stop one card.

Tianna is amazing as a counter for Ruby+Amethyst. Currently steel just loses that match up due to the need to play around all the removal spells. She also locks down their card draw from Friends on the other side.

I absolutely love your takes man. Making the switch from steel songs aggro to midrange cuz of you. Everyone has been freaking out about these cards and I knew you would have a more toned down reasonable take, and you did. Made some excellent points. Thanks for that and keep up the great work!

Yeah I don't think any of these are broken. Also this is 13 out of another 200+ cards, even if they did seem overpowered, it's too early to tell!

Great video brother! I was also thinking about the interaction with Lantern and Just in Time but I was told it wouldn’t work because lantern makes you “pay one less” but does not actually change the cost of the card which does unfortunately make sense. Love your videos and you’re a huge reason why I started my channel! Much love brother 🤘🏻

I saw an Eye of the Fates Pascal Sapphire Amethyst deck recently and it was really cute, being able to quest with Pascal every turn for 2 lore. These new cards look sick :)

Love your channel. I think Tiana is particularly good for Amber Steel decks looking to go wide. There have been A LOT of games where "Be Prepared" has absolutely torched me on turn 7, and if I had Tianna able to maintain that control for even one or two more rounds I'd win. I think that it's good for preventing that board wipe alone.

I’m also most excited about Cinderella. There are already amber steel mid range decks playing the 4 cost amber Cinderella. I think she’d fit well in that deck. Amber steel princesses, perhaps?

Yeah, those decks already run Ariel, Rapunzel, and sometimes Moana, so Cindy could see some play.

Zero to Hero might be interesting in Miracles. Turn one Stitch, turn two Simba, turn three sing with Simba, shift into Rock Star for two, play another one drop. That's a high set of asks and it might do nothing but it seems like a much better Just In Time as long as you have a full bottom of your curve. Maybe Mulan decks can like it too?

Bro we need a best of three with Sideboard in compatitiv play. The Sorcerer Spellbook looks very good for Ruby/Amethyst Contoll mirror. In Maindeck its hard to play :(

6 Drop Gaston is just a mostly better 6 Drop Robin hood for sapphire, but non inkable really holds it back to being an auto include. I could see it as a 2 or 3 of because card draw and selection can be so powerful in the lategame.

as hype as I am for some of these cards, I'm more hyped for The Great Mouse Detective being introduced in this set. Me and my cousin are huge fans of the movie, so seeing the first card based on the IP gets us excited for what's to come. I'm hoping for a floodborn Ratigan where he's the king of Paris

The spellbook is an instant lore win without any dependency to a creature, this can be critical in some cases. But it means also that we could technically build creatureless deck 😱!!!!

Man these look cool! I'm a little frustrated with Lorcana, however, as I've opened 8 booster boxes 2 starter packs, 1 trove and 1 gift set as well as a dozen single packs and haven't pulled an enchanted, nor have I even found every character. My LGS also mistakenly told me the league winner gets 3 enchanteds, which had me super hyped, then next week found out what enchanted cards actually were. I knew TCGs were a money pit but having spent thousands with the jacked up prices and the disappointment of neither finding every card nor a single enchanted has really killed the fun for me.

Honestly the belle made me think, emerald sapphire deck that runs the Warding Aurora, so you can force characters to challenge Belle and not fear removal?

spellbook makes me imagine a sapphire/amethyst tamatoa deck. plenty of items in both. and with amethyst giving it card draw, im hopeful that this will be a more meta deck in set 2

So one of the guys in my locals group said Merlin doesn’t work with Mickey or Facilier because they get banished first and then return to your hand. They aren’t returned from play they’re returned from banish.

Considering how much synergy sapphire steel has, tiana looks much better when you remember that fishbone quill exists. It’s very easy for that ink combo to use up all cards in hand. While this won’t be good against aggro decks, and midrange or late game control deck is gonna have a fit dealing with her.

I think Tiana is good in aggro decks that empty their hand in 4 turns. I do agree on the fact that she has niche applications and she's MU dependant, but imagine that card in a Steel/Amber song mirror match or just against Ruby/Amethyst

Merlins ability say “from play” so I don’t think cards that need to be banished to be returned to your hand will trigger that effect cause once it’s banished it’s no longer in play

I’m pretty sure Merlin doesn’t work with Floodborn Facilier. Facilier states “when a character is banished” and banished characters aren’t considered to be in play, which means that Merlin’s effect won’t proc. We will definitely need confirmation from Ravensburger for this one

Something I think you’re overlooking is the value of zero to hero. In an Amber deck you can play stitch turn 1, any 2 ink card on 2 and then on 3 mana have your 2 ink card sing zero to hero. This lets you shift in rockstar on turn 3 and leaves you with 1 up to play a 1 drop like lilo and draw a card. The same can be done in purple, turn 1 play any 1 ink, turn 2 play facilier and then turn 3 have facilier sing zero to hero to shift big facilier in on turn 3. The card represents free ink, moreso than Just in Time because its less restrictive. It allows cards like Genie on the Job and John Silver to come into play as early as turn 4. Its requirements are much simpler too since its at the 2 mana slot so a lot of cards can sing it with ease, letting you get value on it before grab your swords can contest it

I get all that, but what you're describing requires you to have exactly those three cards in your opening hand. And after all that you're only getting RSS out 1 turn earlier at a cost of running 4 uninkable cards. It's good, but it's not going to happen every game and I don't know if it's worth the uninkable slot.

@@ssteadfastI think the flexibility of the card is probably the most important part. It’s not specifically RSS that’s making it good, its the fact that you can cheat out characters significantly earlier that cards like lantern and JiT can’t. On top of that JiT and lantern both see play as unsearchable, uninkable 4 ofs. Obviously we have to see what the metagame looks like after the full set release but if you added just this one card to the set 1 pool its immediately ridiculous. Cheating cards into play for the cost of 1 card has always been ridiculous, look at Jeweled Lotus in MTG

@19:55 -- NOT susceptible to only challenge damage...the damage reduction does not specify damage "from challenges" (like other challenge exclusive effects) -- an opposing grab your sword or tinkerbell does nothing to her.

Ever since I saw I the new belle, I’ve been wondering about playing a 3/3 split of kuzco and belle in emerald aggro decks. Thoughts?

I think it's probably better to just run 4 of whichever is better. Belle having 3 willpower makes me think I'd rather take Kuzco, but that could change once more set 2 cards are revealed.

It depends on what your deck is trying to do, kuzco is going to be way better than belle for amber emerald that's trying to win the game turn 6. But belle might be better in a more mid range steel emerald deck. I think it's likely that kuzco is just always better and maybe you replace 1 or 2 hatters with belle if you want.

I think Amber-Steel princesses will be a fun deck idea. Amber: Moana Rapunzel Singer Aerial Cinderella Minnie Mouse Steel: Tiana Knight Cinderella I feel tiana is very strong late game to keep Ru-Am in check. Since she shuts down Dragon Fire and Be Prepare, the only card right now that can get over her in 1 go is Maui. Rafiki and Hades cant get over her resist. Not having to worry about your board getting wiped again after theyve already dropped Be Prepared once gives you aome breathing room. If we get 1 or 2 more inkable songs in Amber and/or steel for Aerial, this deck will be pretty nuts: Moana and Ser Cindi on field with a song in hand is gross. She can quest and then kill anything opponent has or can kill 2 things since Moana reactivates her. Youre getting either 6 lore and killing 1 character, or 3 lore and killing 2 characters. If the song you sang was Grab Your Sword... Ser Cindi can swing way above her weight to help clear away whatever Grab Your Swords didnt get rid of.

@10:10 -- HUGE difference between "eye of the fates" and spellbook - you need a dry character & willing to open up to challenges. Sorcerer's Spellbook gets you lore without questing...might not be OP but strong and the only effect that does this, yet. I am expecting to see lore on actions/songs soon tho - so we'll see

I think it’s more similar than you suggest. In the majority of turns that wants an item like these you’re going to have a character on board that wants to quest already. In that scenario, which I think is often, EotF is better because it’s cheaper over time and inkable. Now this is comparing an Amethyst card with a Sapphire card so there will be many decks where you can’t choose, but I think they are pretty comparable overall.

To my understanding dropping cost of character wouldn't work with just in time. Or other effects like Rockstar stich since I've been told it's off base cost. Would you happen to have info for things like that cause maybe I was told differently cause people didn't like the idea of such combos.

Well with belle I'm hoping to give my opponents creature reckless so they have to attack her and if they make an emerald or steel 2 mana belle she will be singing a whole new world on turn 3 and again hoping to reckless the opponents creature so they have to discard there new hand

Sorcerer’s spellbook is way too good. Imagine you get 4 of them on field. You get 4 lore every turn even if you have no characters on board. It’s going to be played in probably most Amethyst lists.

That costs 16 ink though. For 4 ink a piece, you could instead summon a lot of characters that quest for way more.

You have this backwards. Eye of the Fates can be used when played on a character you already have on board. If your board is empty, just don’t play it and play a character instead. In contrast, Spellbook can’t be used when played on turn 3 because it requires +1 ink to use. It’s better used later when you have more ink.

It just helps you draw cards. The cost is banishing one of your characters.
