* Quickly comment out a line with Ctrl+/ * Select code and toggle line comments with Ctrl+/ * Select code and toggle block comment Ctrl+Shift+/ * Completing a line: Don't go to the end of the line, close all parentheses and type the semicolon like a caveman - instead, hit Ctrl+Shift+Enter anywhere in the line * "Surround with" (not sure if this is turned on by default): Select any text and then hit the quotation mark or opening parenthesis/bracket/brace/chevron - the selection gets surrounded by the respective characters * Multiple carets mode supports copy and paste - and not just with the same amount of lines: You can paste a single line to multiple places or copy multiple places to a single spot

Good primer 👍. I have the presentation plug in on when I do code reviews so others can learn the different shortcuts. Quick tips for anyone else reading this. For Ctrl + Y to delete a line think "Yank" Also most places where intellij gives you a list you can search on it. The example in the video is the project structure.

What are benefit of ideavim except motions. It looks like a loot of work for small reward

What you get vith ideavim in intellij except motion. I could find zero useful resources on ideavim online. And often it has different behaviour then vim.

Very nice thank you. Personally I think a keyboard is archaic at best. There should be a verbal command plugin...speech to command plugin; keyboards are for typewriters. ;=)

Agreed. But let's hope it doesn't get too confused by those of us who say brackets rather than parentheses. 😉

Some of those don't work on Mac. I often use: new WhatEverClass(); and then OPTION + COMMAND + V - it declares a variable; and then if it's not var - press SHIFT + OPTION + O - and change to var. main + TAB psf + TAB select a chunk of code, OPTION + COMMAND + T - and then press, for example 123456788 - any number you need to wrap the code into try-catch fori + TAB iter + TAB
