Awesome audio/video! Some of my Halloween visitors this evening asked me about what was playing, so I told them. I also made sure to rack up some movies listed below this video. I never saw them before, but I'm sure to enjoy them. I especially liked Cyril Smith's "With 'er 'ead tucked under 'er arm". I'd like to hunt out and listen to more of his recordings. Thanks, Lindsay!

These videos are incredible! You can almost believe they are the original music videos for the songs, if music videos had existed in the early 20th century. The timing is just perfect. Lindsay Holiday is a video editing genius!

9:18 fits perfectly to this cartoon from 1929, and now i know halloween music wasn't an eighties thing, they've played halloween music even during the silent film era to WWII.

When I was a boy in the '70s, many participants in the production of these scenes were still very much alive. Perhaps a few yet remain from the most recent ones. I feel keenly the loss as each one goes to join the shades. I think the weirdness lies in the fact that motion pictures have finally outlived the humans born in the days of their invention. The viewing and appreciating of, say, a movie made by Edison, or Méliès, or Griffith is at last aesthetically equal to appreciating a painting of Da Vinci's, a sculpture of Michelangelo's, or a musical passage of Vivaldi's. Not merely the producers, directors, artists, and actors but every single earthly contemporary of theirs - men, woman, infants - have passed into history, and a whole new society has supplanted theirs. Soon enough we shall be observing the centennial of sound films - and then things shall become REALLY weird. 😊 😏 👻

Great compilations! Only thing that bugs me is 1910's, 20's, 30's, etc. It should be "1910s, '20s, & '30s" Apostrophe FIRST. ;) Happy Halloween! :)
