It iis saturday night, and I just spent 10 minutes watching a big piece of steel get very slowly squashed by other big bits of steel. I have no regrets.

It's satisfying watching an immense peace of red-hot metal being handled by an even larger machine like it's making a photocopy. That's impressive precision for such extreme temperatures and mass.

For those of you not familiar with this process it is known as the Mc Qrish V-Plane Process. It is a tedious uneventful procedure to watch. Parametrically there is imbalance between y-function and x-function pertaining to space sequencing. However the differential sequence has shown to make up for those loses. The final result more than amplifies the net energy thermodynamic conservation factor by more than 10. In other words this is how they make some types of beer cans!

This is an example of open-die forging. They are taking a piece of square or rectangular reheated steel billet and making a round shaft from it with the press and the manipulator that spins it around for multiple pressed hit by the forging press. I'm a design engineer and Ive worked to design and fabricate some machine tools but it was nothing close to this big.

It likely spent 2-3 days in a re-heat furnace after it was cast as a billet and then cooled. Its g not getting cooled anytime during the forging process. After they finished it was likely slowly cooled in a tempering furnace to control the cooling process before it was machined to final specifications.
