They did mass produce Defiants we just never see a massed force of them on screen. I've always wondered if they were trying to tone down the DS9 and B5 similarities and rumors of the franchises ripping off each other by avoiding a counterpart to the White Star fleet given the similarities between the ship designs. Both were incredibly well armed for their size, much smaller then a heavy ship of the setting, very fast and maneuverable, and equipped with new advanced forms of armor so having them operate in units might have been something DS9 decided not to do as well.

Even if they didn't have squadrens of Deviants patrolling Federation space, using some of its tech on a few of the smaller, more tactical, starships (Akira, Steamrunner, etc.) would seem like a really good idea. Can you imagine the nerd-gasms that would erupt across the globe if we got to see an updated/refit Miranda warp into the action onscreen and let loose a barrage of torpedoes and Phaser Cannon fire at the enemy's ships!! (Especially if this occured after the Miranda decloacked!! 😲)

If I'm not mistaken it was star trek online that had the idea so they had a way to explain in the game's cannon why they made the refit versions of the disco era ships, but triangulum did expand it and added more lore to it.

Well, he did say it had a devastating effect on biological lifeforms. Not sure if any of the components pf the ships would absorb this type of radiation. Hopefully, they were not planning on using, or had already installed, bio-neural (?, Voyager tech) circuitry in any of the refits...

Completely disagree with this comment, as the DSC classes fit better with canon then the TOS Constitution Class ever has!

@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics Wy? Nothing in DSC does fit. All is in a too modern style and only with big beta canon storries like your it will get better.

Actually it does for the following reasons; 1) It fills in a time period we knew NOTHING about. 2) It fits nicely as a growth from the NX Classes, where as the Constitution Does not. 3) It has things like Aztecing and more mechanical looking hull accessories. Which again fits with the NX Class and also fits with TMP. 4) It shows that the Constitution Class was the odd ball, making it a special class which fits with what we know from Canon. No other starship class in Canon was so smooth looking... 5) TMP would show an Enterprise with Boxy Nacelles, again, showing the TOS Connie was the exception, not the rule! And these design aesthetic would continue on right through every Century in Trek. Where as TOS's elements would not. Again making DSC fit far better in canon then the TOS Connie ever did. And although I LOVE the TOS Era, and that aesthetic, with all my experience making videos and analyzing ship designs again, I say you are 100% Incorrect with your assessment in this case! :)

@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics On this angle you are right. There is TOS a brake between ENT and MOV. In the howle DSC don't fit in ST Bad Storries from producers wich don't understand the philosophie of ST.

But it actually isn't... There is Star Trek, then there are those that buy that right to use the Trek name under the understanding that what they create has no bearing on the franchise itself, and then there's fan creations, which again have no meaning to the franchise at all... lol

Actually no, it makes quite a lot of sense... After all it is a set of rules on what is fact with in that fictional universe as set up by those that actually own it...
