Watching you guys, brings back memories of my youth. We did the same thing 40 years ago,,, but using only a Super C Farmall and a 40 John Deere. We would use the 40 JD as our pull tractor up those steep power line hills. (It's only a 2 cylinder) haha.... Problems? Yes plenty, but we'd work through them. But at the end of the day,,, we'd manage to get a lot of wood out.

I have a L3200 with a Hudson M35 and paired up with a 14' dump trailer. I sometimes would like a larger tractor but all things considered its the perfect combination of size vs capacity vs mobility. Come with the tractor in the dump trailer, leave with a load of logs in record amount of time. I put a set of diamond pattern logging chains on the back, without the chains your screwed in anything but dry weather. Even then I get a lot more pull with the chains on. This setup isnt for every situation but following up a logging crew is a absolute home run. I cant imagine doing it any other way. My goal has always been making firewood fun and easy enough to do when my body is shot. Worst part is getting on and off the tractor.

Now I wish I had the exact same tractor setup you have here except a slightly smaller tractor. Loader with grapples to grab tree trunks and a winch to pull logs from difficult, tight areas instead of having a four wheeler just barely doing it. This is the dream for me!

Yup, definitely a handy attachment. I bit the bullet and bought one when I traded up to a grand L with a cab, cuz a cab tractor is NOT to handy in the woods, lol. Quickly realized I shoulda done it years ago! Combined with a grapple, perfect setup eh Kirk?! Btw, seen it before but nice trailer!

Back In The Woods Wallenstein fx85. Exceeded my expectations and definitely allows me to access wood I could not obtain before even without a cab. A self releasing snatch block is a must have also, I’ve used it more then I thought I would. On a 4060 also👍 with an EA Wicked grapple 😊

Ummmm, couldn't you have just used the tractor to pull that little tree out of the woods ? It pulled it through the yard just fine.
@backinthewoods2022
@backinthewoods2022 4 жыл бұрын
In that case absolutely, but in most cases you don’t have a straight shot of 50 yards of lawn to work with usually you are on a trail or pinned between trees in the woods.
@jeffreyhouston2043
@jeffreyhouston2043 4 жыл бұрын
My point is that the tractor pulled the tree just as easily as the winch.
@vermontapple

@@jeffreyhouston2043 Obviously. The idea is that you pull a log that the tractor can't get to with the winch. Once its to the tractor you skid it with the tractor

Not always, I often have to release pull ahead and rewinch due to snags or off camber terrain. I have a smaller tractor, so I have more winching capacity than pulling capacity. Having 200' of reach is invaluable in these situations.

Ok I'm sorry, but how much of that worthless dead crap would it take to pay for all that beautiful hardware? You're on flat ground ground there Bubba. Buy a wheel barrow, get some exercise.
@chadrubenzer2676
@chadrubenzer2676 3 жыл бұрын
It had nothing to do with exercise, it had to do more so with the amount off wood we wanted taking out of the woods in the fastest way possible, but you'll be happy to know since this we did buy a wheelbarrow, and that worthless wood seems to burn hot and also kept the camp warm all winter.
