AFC Newquay play in the 10th tier of English football, so not a bad idea for Hashtag to play them as that's the same level they intend to join. However in Cornwall we don't exactly have many football teams of note, as rugby is the more popular sport. Truro City in the 6th tier is the best we've got. Compare that to the amount of footballing sides coming out of the Midlands/London area which is the region Hashtag are playing in. It's probably not unfair, therefore, to suggest that the South West Peninsula Prem is a little weaker than the Spartan South Midlands Div 1... Now AFC Newquay finished 14/20 in their league this season. Therefore if Hashtag fail to beat them here, in an end of season fundraiser, it suggests that it's going to be a BIG struggle for them to survive next season, where they'll be playing slightly stronger opposition and playing them every week - something the Hashtag lads aren't used to. No more roll-on-roll-off subs, either! If I were a betting man I'd guess it's going to be a relegation scrap for Spen and the lads (though I'm happy to be proved wrong!) To be honest, that just makes it all the more satisfying to follow them though in my opinion - and I'm definitely hyped for it! No-one - really- wants to see endless wins against opposition who don't really care. Seeing how the team (and the fans) react to losses more often than not, see how they fight if they end up in a relegation scrap, see the highs and the lows every week... that's proper football. That's going to make awesome viewing. Can't wait for it! Good luck lads and don't forget to #️⃣ it!
