I love Iceland, both for its natural beauty and for the incredibly gracious people who live there. A trip to the interior - to the Painted Mountain - is well worth the trouble (you need a 4-wheel drive vehicle, and possibly a tutorial on driving through water). It’s an amazing experience! Personally, the one thing I would skip is the Blue Lagoon. I found it to be touristy, crowded, sweaty & gross. Otherwise, Iceland is fantastic in every way.

@EatSeeRV

We only passed a handful of public toilets (maybe 2 - 3). We stopped at gas stations, many of the popular tourist stops had bathrooms (pay a few kronner to enter). We also bathed at hot springs after soaking or at campgrounds. Enjoy your trip! :)

@EatSeeRV
@EatSeeRV 28 күн бұрын
I honestly don't know. We did a terrible job reviewing our expenses after. The van rental is $250 a night depending on the vehicle and time a year. Food costs were about $100 per person per day on a budget. Could be more if you go to nice places or eat out a lot! We filled up gas three times I think for a total of $180. (Although double check that we shared gas cost in the video). Excursions range from free to $50-$100 per person. We did a lot of activities so probably $350-$400 per person. It's not a budget trip by any means! But worth it.

@EatSeeRV

Of course, several hotels and vacation rentals/B&Bs along the way. We just love camping and felt it was a nice cost saving compared to hotels + having to eat out every meal. It also saved us time. We packed quick lunches a lot in the parking lot to activities which wouldn't have been possible with a rental car + hotel (at least as easily).

You make the food sound amazing. Everyone else says the food is bad. I love lamb and goat and well-cooked fish. No chicken or pork. The fish there looks raw. I'd need mine completely cooked. Is that possible? We eat zero junk food but those desserts do look good if not too sweet.

The food was fantastic! You can always order what suits your preferences or diet. Plenty of real wholesome food to enjoy there.

Planning a trip for next year. so curious how much did it all cost? ballpark figures?
@EatSeeRV
@EatSeeRV Жыл бұрын
Roughly $2,000 without airfare. But we spared no expense on the places and activities we did. And ate and drank out a lot in Reykjavik. Which is expensive. I'd say we're middle of the expense category there.

@@EatSeeRV Does that include the camper rental? I think the one you used starts at $222 USD currently, which for 10 days would be over 2k. Been enjoying this camper van idea but I'm wondering if it'd be cheaper to rent a regular car and stay at a combo of hotels or air bnbs.
@EatSeeRV
@EatSeeRV Жыл бұрын
No it didn't include the rental. It will definitely be cheaper with the van rental vs Airbnb. Airbnb can coat $50 - $100+ per night. Plus you have car rental fees on top of that. It really depends if you want conveniences of home with you as you travel.

Stunning visuals! Stunning country - have visited twice & expect to return. Had to watch most of it with the sound off due to the 'squeaky hinge' American tone which can be grating on English ears. Sorry!

This is the most backhanded compliment. If you are impartial to American accents maybe next time leave that out. We cannot change that we are American. 🙄

@@EatSeeRV You don't need to. Just be aware that you can maybe modulate your tone. & it's 'not partial to'. Impartial - no opinion.

Wow. I have never heard anyone pronounce Þingvellir that way. 😂 Like, I understand struggling with the LL sound because English doesn't have that sound at all (most languages don't), but the way you say it sounds like "Thingrafish", which isn't even close. 😂 Did somebody teach you to say it that way, because if so, they f***ed up. 😂 Always good to hear nice things about my homeland, though. 🥰

Why did you not visit the Blue Lagoon? You were like 15 minutes from the airport? Did you visit it? I stop watching cause it is not relevant to what I wanted to see, if you let me know more about the blue lagoon that would be fabulous! Lovely video would like to finish watching it
