Lion prefer to hunt prey that is large enough to sustain the whole pride. In this case a buffalo was just enough to full the whole pride but in 2 day time they will have to hunt again. These lions hunt almost everyday unless they can catch something big like this.
Lions use the darkness to hunt mostly as they have incredible vision at night up to 6x better than us. They also have incredible hearing and smell.
When they is a kill the animal will eat of what it is and if they do not finish it the Jackal, hyena and vultures are the clean up crew. Today there is something tomorrow it will just be a flat stinky piece of grass.
