Finally switched from a slow 17" Dell Windows laptop to my 16" MBP M1 Pro. Night and day! Also got it slightly used for $400 off. Best decision ever. Thought I'd miss the larger screen, but don't miss it at all. My only regret is not getting more storage, but theres cloud and external for that. I haven't heard the fan once and have had not one problem. Coming from a slow, freezing Windows laptop is honestly a quality of life improvement. lol The instant on/boot alone is wonderful!

Thanks for this very honest review. I purchased my MBP M1 Pro 14 in May, and my main softwares to use are Serato, Lightroom, Photoshop, and Final Cut. I am glad i paid more for the mid tier model with 1TB of storage, and fully understand your reason for getting the M1 Max, with the investment cost. I don't have FOMO with the introduction of the M2 Pro, but I do now wish i upgraded the SSD to 2TB, so I guess that will be my purchase in 2024, but for now, i love my MBP M1 Pro BEAST!

I'm currently running the M1 MBP 13" - thinking about upgraded just to get rid of the touch bar.

Base model edits up to 6k just fine, slowdowns only come up in my experience with those really compressed 8k codecs and 8k from the v-raptor is also taxing.

looks like you're exporting your video as h265, you're getting a lot of crunchy compression. try going back to h264 for more stable compression

Beautiful video, when it came out I was also so happy with the return of the SD card slot, however I was so used to just plug My A7III & IV directly in to the Mac or Studio display with the USB-C cable that I hardly ever use it. Just wondering why you are still doing that since the port is not that fast either.

Still loving this macbook pro fr. It's a bit overkill since i only run figma but the screen and refresh rate is something really worth investing. My boss got it for me though. Not complaining.

Everyone says buy the 16'' for the battery - what's wrong with a $50 external battery?! 14'' + $50 external battery will put any 16'' to shame! And with less weight too!

I've got the 16inch M1 Max, with 1TB of storage. As in your case, I see this machine as an investment in my work and business. I can definitely see an increase in productivity. I've worked my way to it, from more modern machines, and it's helped me do my job better. I look forward to see what else I get to create, and how this investment helps me grow as a professional. A daily commuter, and thankfully not a scratch yet. I kind of wish I had found the 14inch available at the time I purchased this device, but the bigger screen does come handy at the office, where I don't have an external display (yet).
