I'm always keen to meet local steam people around the Cotswolds, so when I saw Simon's engine in a Facebook post I was keen to head down the Fosse and meet man and machine.

While I'm sure we'd all love a full size, just watching him drop the grate out makes me think nah I'm happy to stick with 4 to 6 inch ones 😉

@@SteamOTR I was lucky enough, if you can call it that, to fire a full size Showmans a few years ago, from raking out the old fire to lighting a fresh one, that one experience taught me enough to realise you really have to be dedicated to own a full size.

@@PhoneVidoes It was basic things like the size of the fire grate bars that just astonished me - I guess I was just ignorant. I can pick up my entire fire grate in one hand!!!
