Love to see those Rapier vs Sabre bouts

00:25 , that was a beautiful saber thrust, but i thought you dislike using the fleche
@RobertChildsRapier4 ай бұрын
No, I don't dislike using the fleche. What I dislike is when it is overused, thereby establishing a pattern in the fencer. Or when it is done incorrectly, such as when it is done without covering the opposing weapon or the chronic problem so many fencers have of doing it from too far away. You give over that much time to your opponent with a fleche from too far away and the experienced fencer is going to make you pay for it.

Using two rapiers at the same time isn't something I know much about. Do you have a video describing the techniques involved in more detail?
@RobertChildsRapier4 ай бұрын
There is only one time when I use two rapiers at once and that is when I know it will be a chokepoint battle, such as a bridge or other narrow passage. And that is purely for the advantage of reach with my left hand since a chokepoint scenario doesn't really allow for much in the way of movement. I'm afraid I do not have any content speaking to two rapiers at once, mostly because I use it so seldom.

@@RobertChildsRapier How about other offhand options? I notice that many of the duels in this video show multiple weapons. A primary that is in the dominant hand and a secondary that almost seems to be used as a tool to get past the opponent's defenses.

@@danjager6200 What you are seeing is what I specialize in: rapier and dagger. In my opinion, it is the ultimate form of rapier combat. And, yes, you will find a number of videos on my channel speaking to its use.

I don't see any 2nd rapier
@danjager62004 ай бұрын
@@jaketheasianguy3307 I didn't say that there was one. I asked the question based on seeing the two weapon styles which I wanted to learn more about. I worded it badly. Sorry for the confusion.
