"This is skateboarding" was amazing and at a great time in my life.

The entire ThisIsSkateboarding soundtrack has a permanent spot on my skate playlist. Even the super mellow ones like "Shinda Shima" get me so pumped to jump on my board and feel that breeze. As much as I will always have a sweet spot for Vans, for me it's Emerica all the way.

Immediately noticed the green filter in the opening segment. Nice touch.

So glad you brought up what an absolute legend Heath Kirchart has been throughout his career, and also Braden Hoban for Hubba Hideout. Emerica is such an amazing brand, but all of Sole Tech does not get enough praise for what they've done for skateboarding. Glad you went into the history of how those three brands got divvy'd up. Late 90s early 2000s Emerica was very popular, especially with baker riders, prob cause of Reynolds. To this day Emerica is the only skate shoe brand I still buy

Emerica has been spoiling us with some of the gnarliest skate videos ever created. And the number reason is the constant rippers they pick to put on their team and sponsor. Not to mention, Emerica videos are always top notch with everything that goes with film production.....

4:31 My buddy Jason Lemankiewicz from Phoenix is the dude grinding this massive handrail. Both Jamie Thomas and Muska tried to get this one and couldn't pull it off. Jason is a rad guy and an amazing skateboarder. I would stay on his couch when I visited Portland. We skated Burnside all the time and went on countless skate trips all around Oregon and Washington. Dude could have been pro if he had wanted to but he was completely content to work at a pizza place, shred parks and catch a buzz, living the good life in the PNW 🍻🛹

Got introduced to Emerica from Stay Gold when I was 12-13. And the first pair my mom bought me were the black/grey Jinx model. Good times

I got lucky I started skating in 96 or 97. I got to skate every sick emerica shoe. Marc Johnsons were awesome so we're the ellingtons. This is skateboarding is almost as iconic as baker2g

Emerica is my fav brand. This is skateboarding sunk its fangs in deep. Stay gold might be the best skate video ever made, but Green got me back skating after a long break. Reynolds 1, 3, spanky g6, and the wino slipscups.

Still got my r3s, bought em when I was 17, straight ruined. But still have og box and very much skateable og Shake Junt G codes. Emerica is the best, short of not using STI anymore. Es still got STI though, so between that, some half cabs and occasionally a Dunk low or mid; all is well. Altamont is also one of the coolest brands. Still have that Herman flip pic on my wall as well as premier for Shake Junt vid, Altamont Steadman photo, and 10 yr Baker pic. Simple teen skate days. Stay Gold was filmed better and has Hsu so just barely takes it imo. Im 28 years old now; two best friends still skate with me so im as lucky as a man could be, but most others quit or are on dopefiend shit. Recently tore the ligaments in my flick foot a few months ago so coping with that, and aging. Doing my best, hitting little boxes, gaps, alot of freestyle and less impact skating. Making the best out of it. Strange how some things never change- didn't realize for a long time there wasn't a what to be when I grow up- it was just skate; meantime work cogs jobs to afford living quarters so you can just do the same thing you've always done. Feel very out of place in life, but at the same time it's therapeutic. Emerica best shoes, Baker overall best boards and vids, Escapist best shop, MJ the goat, Rodney the god.

The Reynolds 3s were out before 2007. I'm gunna say that the Reynolds 3s were released in 2004

and now they reissued the OG 1 ( Marc Jonhson) in white , blue navy and black . So dope ! i have already pre ordered my ES Muska and Creager 2023 is a good year for OG reissue

The mark Johnson Emerica’s were dope af.. those the Es kostons, & the Es muska’s are some of the best shoes of that era

Does anyone know why in This Is Skateboarding Joey Poiriez (r.i.p) has a very small part some time into the ending credits and wasn’t put in the Emerica am section with braydon, Leo and Matt Allen? I’ve always wondered that since the video came out.

Stay good is my favorite Reynolds part so stay gold off too but I’ll have to go back and rewatch this is skateboarding to give a definitive answer for you.

Growing up after the stay gold video came out emerica was always my favorite shoe company to skate. I still think it has the best design direction and video style. Altamont and emerica were the best.

Emerica has had some amazing skate videos, but the pinnacle, in my opinion, is This is Skateboarding. While I have a bit of nostalgic bias, it's still an amazing video that could rival the ones that are coming out today. I could watch nearly any part of that video and be hyped to skate.

I was like 12 when the Reynolds 3 came out. I loved those shoes. The diamond in the eyelet! And I remember it having Reynolds handwritten in the back of the heel. Everyone in middle school was accusing me of writing it myself because there was a cute girl with the same last name in class lol. All them memories from a pair of skate shoes

Was at the Park skating last week, and my homie was telling me about this guy that showed up, older dude but he was good. When I looked down and saw he was wearing Emerica shoes, I already knew he was gonna be good. 😅 Only real ones know! Hahaha.

The Reynolds 3 was a perfect skate shoe like the likes of an és accell in the early 2000s-2010’s atleast in Braintree mass from 2009-2012 everyone was skating accells or reynolds 3s and kayo boards or baker boards, or Plan B

The Emerica wino slip ons is what I've been skating for years. Besides vans in between pairs. Especially the pink elephant collab. I put a few pairs on ice ice baby. Have you ever tried to write a comment while wasted? It's harder than you think.

I had the templeton 2's. Good shoe. But, I liked the stay gold video best. after all that time. The templeton part I liked it best from wasn't even an emerica vid. lol. the last pair of reynolds they made were pretty good too. but I bought a size too big and they were tough to skate in.

After Reynolds,Emerica just doesn't feel the same. The brand is still amazing but I think they need a re-brand. Mostly,they need another franchize player. Maybe Hoban is the answer. And best part in a Emerica video is Reynolds in Stay Gold. That might be the best part ever made. But overall their best full lenght is This Is Skateboarding.
