I fascinated with how the apples were in packaging. We don't have many Lidl stores in America, although I think we have a few somewhere. We DO have many Aldi stores though. Here in the U.S. at an Aldi, the sweet potatoes would have no packaging...well actually, I have seen them both ways. Loose and in bags. You definitely wouldn't find apples in a package that looks like that. They'd be loose in a bin OR in a large bag. Lettuce and cabbage would definitely have plastic wrapping around it. Carrots are sold in plastic bags...a bundle per bag. Just fascinating how these little details differ. I guess I'm "extravagant." :) Pineapple is my favorite fruit and I need it fresh. :)

The_Natural_Cleaning_vibe you’re joking, right? Milk is hands down the easiest thing to switch out as there’s so many different kinds, and it’s readily available just about everywhere. Fair enough not cutting out cheese as the alternatives are questionable, but milk can be switched out so easily.

The only thing I don't like about your content is how much you feel you have to justify yourself. You're doing a better job at living sustainably than 99% of the population, but you're still so worried people will come at you in the comments. These videos are amazing, stop worrying!

Aww I know! I’m not worried, because it always happens haha. I just get so many comments I have to pre-empt them! Just read through this comment section or any of my other haul videos and I think you’ll see what I mean. It’s a bit of self preservation/survival mode so I don’t have to deal with annoying comments when people don’t get it 🤷🏻‍♀️ It can be tiring to read through/comment back so I just say it in the video to make people understand where I’m coming from haha

Unfortunately, they also import A LOT of products rather than using local ones (because they are a global company and it's cheaper for them) - potatoes, onions and many more. Annoyingly, people here in the States feel the need to put EVERY produce item in plastic! I get funny looks for just plopping my items in the cart and for getting loosely packaged produce. 😟

If you take the white parts of the green onion and put in a glass of water it will just keep growing the green part. Don’t remember the last time I had to but green onion. It grows so fast that sometimes I can’t keep up with it so I just snip off the green part and freeze for soups etc.

Some people are allergic or sensitive to both onion and garlic. Or are you complaining about the plastic bag? It’s so refreshing to see someone actually being mindful of the way things are packaged!!! It’s too bad when the cheap option is overflowed with plastic. I think you can let the store know but with Lidl I’m not sure if they have the resources to make those changes :( bUT I really appreciate you for bringing it to light as well as showing how easy and budget friendly it can be to be a still nutritionous vegan! ♡

Thank you SO MUCH for this! I'm from Serbia and often I can't find stuff mentioned in the videos because 1) we really don't have those grocery stores and 2) we have a lack of healthy foods. We recently got Lidl all over the country so now, thanks to you, I can make the exact same recipes as you do! Thank you again ❤❤

isobel mcfadyen can you eat lentils, beans and chickpeas? Bean burgers are easy to make, mushrooms burgers are good too. Variety of fruits and veg and cooking from scratch is more healthful. Just tap into google best vegan recipes for anything you want and there is always something easy and healthy to make 💚🌱

Not sure if you know this but lidl and aldi both sell bags of frozen peppers and mushrooms which are super cheap and brilliant for putting in cooked things like chilli or soup but are no good for salads, i do however pop them in things like a lentil salad if your using like you would coleslaw, say with other cut up veggies and a dressing, like a side you would add to a poke bowl, hope you understand what I'm trying to say, i'm not explaining this very well but they are great for a budget shop to add to stew's, tagine's etc. Just a thought, xx

I'm from Italy and Lidl is a supermarket that we have as well! Love this! 😍 I have to say that the Lidl in my area uses less plastic in the produce aisle, maybe because Italy isn't a food desert at all. Most of the time the food comes packaged in plastic to prevent the waste of the food itself. I think that we have to keep in mind the plastic/food waste trade-off.

It's so strange, how the stores differ around the world. In Vienna (Austria) where I live, LIDL is one of the Supermarkets with the most plastic-less produce. When I realized this, I started ging there more often. The organic stuff is a good price as well, at least here in Vienna.

Literally tinned and frozen fruit and veg are my life! You can also sometimes get veg mixes geared towards certain things, like a frozen stir fry veg mix or chargrilled frozen veg (my favourite). I also buy fruit and veg on clearance for very low prices and freeze them, prepping beforehand when I feel like it so it's ready to just use straight from the freezer. Indeed things like grapes and blueberries are delicious to snack on when they're frozen!

Love your videos! Never left a comment before, but I've been a subscriber for years :). After two years in the workfield I am now studying again, living off my savings and I really had to change some things in order to do everything financially. One thing I do now is I don't shop for vegetables in the supermarket anymore, but I go to Turkish supermarkets. Extra plus is that they don't plastic-wrap anything, so also less waste. I have to cycle to a different part of the city and actually make an effort but it really pays of, financially and it just feels better :).
