I've created and edited videos with motion graphics and 3d animation for 20 years and i dont even think about the editing in most creator content because I don't even think to veiw it in that lense. Which isnt fair, because when someone really tries.. I start finding all the flaws, but usually because i now know they care and missed those few small things that could make it way better. Down to holding on a shot for 10 frames to long. I enjoy your work (thats what it is) so much that I watch each one several times, first just enjoyment and being entertained, then to make sure i didnt miss any information (as your experience, knowledge and results were the first draw), and again just to appreciate the esthetics of your tanks and production. Always look forward to the next.

The struggle is real with reefing for sure. The CBB is the fish that attracted me to saltwater. So many attempts and mostly with temporary success. First 3/4 of '22 has been rough for my reef but it's gotta come around one of these days. Great video Abe. Once I get my tank straight I'll be looking for a CC hellboy. Hope your colony is doing well.

Corals look fantastic. Copperband is a must have fish. I would take those tangs out temporarily and get a copperband to establish. Otherwise you’ll never get rid off the aiptasias. The berghias will find the overflow or the power heads first before they get to eat them all. Thanks for the vid man keep it up!

We really do appreciate you showing the ups and downs, for me, my tank was doing great. But then, 1 of my clownfish jumped out, and sense it was a nano system with already low nutrients, dinos followed quick. a few of my favorite zoas melted and were struggling. I’ve got them on their heels now (for the most part) but the reality is that things can and will go wrong. You just have to do your best to keep going. Thank you!

Thanks for that Abe I really enjoyed the video. Great shots and comparisons with regards the lack of nutrients in the water column on the sps corals. Will look forward to you covering in more depth the pros and cons of adding nitrate directly as I have been experiencing a similar situation myself recently and just started dosing/adding nitrate. I was luckier with the aiptaiser anemones recently , added peppermint shrimps also but nothing in the tank gobbled them up so there still alive and kicking controlling the pests but not totally eradicating them as yet , time will tell .

Your tank is beautiful. I just got rid of my infestation of majano anemones. I ended up taking my corals off the rocks and the rocks that were infected I put in a bucket and put some new rocks in the tank and manually removed them off the old rocks. It kind of worked out. I like how I redid my aquascaping better than before. Then I had dinos, but they are about 95 gone now. I swear you can never get content at reefing. Rewarding, but frustrating at times too

Hey Abe. Good to see another video from you. I had a bad aiptasia problem. I finally added a copper band butterfly and had the same issue with my purple tang but eventually the tang left it alone and my aiptasia problem was no more. I now feed the copper band my sis shrimp and other frozen foods. Sorry for all the issues you had. Definitely part of the hobby. We all go through it unfortunately.

Nice video Abe. I would recommend an acclimation box and try again. It worked for me. I lost two naso tangs to my established tang gang but the third one took after a week in the box. Thanks to Elliot and the BRS video.

Yet another great video from you Abe. Thanks for being so honest even when things don’t go well. Your tank and corals are out of this world, wow 🤩. I’m voting for that full video 🙏🏻. That is some serious flow by the way!! I wish I could fit that much flow into my tank but my rimless tank with pretty high water level can in no way go near that. Are you using a wave box to get that tumble?

Reality hurts! Aiptasia is far the worse enemy of a healthy reef in the long run. Everything else can be spot on, but if you have Aiptasia you know sooner or later you will have to deal with a strong enemy! Hope the Berghia will help you to control them this time!!! They are most likely all over the sump and pipes though, so it will be a constant "dosing" of Berghias for that reef. Your Acros look great!!! Great video, as always. Yes, please let us know more about potassium nitrate. Aloha!

A true Aiptasia-Eating Filefish (Acreicthys tomentosus) will clear that tank out in about a week or two. Buy an ORA captive bred one for good health and so you know that’s exactly what you’re getting, as there’s several common species that look very similar and are sold as AEF, but don’t actually eat aiptasia and can sometimes go after corals. The additional benefit over berghia is they will eat prepared and frozen foods once they clear out the anemones.
@leem270
@leem270 Жыл бұрын
The reason you have so many is because you touch them with your pipette when trying to kill them, They release spores into the tank which settle and grow into Aptasia.

I tried many things combatting Aiptasia. Eventually I ended up with an Acreichthys tomentosus that seems to eat the Aiptasia very well. It is a unusual fish and the kids call it “blaadje” it is Dutch meaning leaf because it looks and moves like a floating leaf. Hence the fish and even the more aggressive fish tend to leave it alone. Great video! Cheers.
