you just bought a card while being ill informed. before this video came up there was plenty information to see that for 1080p the 1070 is overkill. buying something like the rx 470 or even the 1060 (if you can afford the 1070 you can afford the 1060 lol) would have been wiser and there was plenty of information already available to let you conclude that

Its okay a 1070 will perform better than a rx470 anyways, plus if you ever upgrade to a 1440p monitor your 1070 will be up for the task.

@@leevz8290 Oh, I've got a GTX 1080ti for 1080p. And you know what? It's to slow. 144fps are very hard to reach ... And also, I do some machine learning and the additional VRAM comes very handy, but I don't think, this is a normal concern.

There is no amazon in PL. I can order it via amazon from usa but shipping will be about 50$ + 23% taxes + few more for for taxe handling + other crap and it would finish at higher price than these sick local prices.

Not according to Hardware Canucks. 480 is on par at 1440P on average, and 6% better at 1080P in both DX11, and 12.

Pavel Ohrádka RX 480 is like 1℅ slower, but rapes in DX12 and Vulcan. Not really worse than a 1060.

shawcobra Sapphire nitro has horrible cooling ahile being loud af, 79°C at load at its stock clocks at 70% fan speed, thermal throttles so you have to lower the voltage and up the fan speed, my buddy is currently running it at 75°C with 80% fan speed. Might just be a bad sample, idk

maybe it's because I've never experienced it but I have no interest in 1440p. I only recently went to 1080p actually. laptop is 768 and my monitor was 900. I really can't tell to much difference between them.

I think with freesync we can go down to 50 or so. Still not smooth as it goes below that a lot.

Apfel Schorle Yes you can set max fps to your lowest so it does not go down and looks pretty good but in this case it will be around 40 which is not enjoyable for me. If one is okay with that its a good, cheap choice!

During Black Friday I got an Asus Strix 470 for $140 after rebate. I was able to sell the Hitman game it came with for about $20 on eBay, resulting in a $120 GPU with similar performance to a $330 GPU two years ago.

1) to get that performance as it arrives on that price, 2) by the time it gets outperformed, at the price of the launch 1070 and 1080 will be also a card that outperforms both. It's not like its dumb to buy those cards if you have the money

Greg those extender cables can hinder performance sometimes quite massively, have you tested their extender for performance decreases? This could affect the scores we see here

Yeah I received these risers straight from Thermaltake PR so I expect they double-checked them before-hand. Have seen quite a number of negative reviews in regards to most of these cables. Had one from DeepCool crap out on me last week.

I personally have the XFX r9 390 and even though it draws a good amount of watts, it's a DAMN good graphics card for 1080p/1440p almost comparable to an rx 480. The rx 470 is an awesome graphics card, equivalent to the old r9 280/280x graphics card but at a much lower price and much lower TDP.

Mixing all the settings in my games, and i'm getting frame-rates good enough for me (30 - 60 depending on game) at 3200 x 1800 on an 8G RX 470. Stock clock i7-2600. Super happy with it! :D

city skylines and battlefield run pretty rough on an i3 6100, also the 3gb of VRAM will struggle in some titles at 1440p. Not a bad setup but it's definitely suited to 1080p gaming in modern titles.

U know what I like about this video? Well I like the fact that you show what the card looks like hooked up to the PC. I am looking for a graphics card with ok performance in games but I got a windowed PC and get so frustrated with people not showing (or hard to find info on manufacturers sites) If the graphics card has led lit logos and backplates. The extra visual quality offered by ultra/very high settings these days is not worth the hit in performance compared to the high settings. Thus, compromises are definitely acceptable if you want to attain your desired frame rates.

Nvidia said that the 1060 can't into 1440p, *BUT* it actually can... I done a test, because I wasn't really trusting Nvidia & the 1060 runs GTA V on as high graphics as it can go (without MSAA & FXAA (just 16x AA)). It ran on 60fps very fine, just had a fps dip here & there, especially when you made dirt smoke while being in grass & some very big explosions at the same time *P.S. If someone asks, it was 1440p upscaled on a 1080p monitor (no money for 1440p)* *P.S2. My 1060 is from MSI (not the usual red-black combo, instead it's gray-black) & my CPU is a i5-6400*

Impressive card for the money. I got it for my son's xmas for £180 including delivery. He only has a 1080p monitor so he's able to crank the graphics up. It sure shows my msi 980 gaming 4G up considering I could've bought 2x rx470's for the price I, although it was a year ago

I have the RX 470 and i only tend to bump the resolution to 1440p on slightly easier games instead of using anti-aliasing. its not bad at all

I used to own a HIS IceqX 7870 and it was also playing solid on 1440p on almost every game with a few exceptions. Since it's older it can be bought even cheaper (60-80€)

The Witcher 3 is an odd one though. It's the one PC game I own that I actually don't mind at 30fps. My i5 4690k with r9 380 4gb can handle witcher 3 on high or ultra settings at ~45-55 fps give or take. That being said the game runs really smooth when you turn on the 30 fps limiter in the settings. My brother and I learned how valuable this was when he wanted to play the game on his i3 4170 with r7 265 at the time. That system was low end but even it handled the 30 fps quite well on med-high settings.

Mainly because I'm broke, I plan on upgrading my GPU to the next AMD X80 tier card after the 480. I figure that it will release after the Xbox Scorpio releases and with both consoles being in there "Super Saiyan Form" (to be extremely generous), there will be a new standard set for graphical fidelity, with competitive new graphics cards to go with it. : )

Just make sure you're running a half decent CPU though. I got the Powercolor rx470 and paired it up with my i5-2400 PC with 8gb of ram and a 500W PSU, which is sadly my best right now, and I've gotta compromise like hell in modern games just to get 1080p 60 on high.

are all RX 470s this strong or just this XFX one? cuz I remember it getting just over 60fps at 1080p might be cuz Ultra settings were being used I really dont see much difference in Ultra and High at 1080p anyways

A lot of times ultra settings consume a significant amount more compute power than lower settings do

Great vid. Have you actually tried to OC the 470 with proper tools that allow +vcore? A lot of custom 480s can hit 1.4ghz or even higher and the 470 is the same chip, Polaris 10.

I have a brand new EVGA FTW GTX 1080 Hybrid and I barely can get 1440p on maxed settings in MGSV. It will do 4k, but it gets massive frame drops when anything big happens on the screen. I tried overclocking it but that gave me worse results than just running it normally.

A subtle issue is that the rx 470 does not allow crossfire so I prefer the 480 so that down the road I can add a second GPU if needs increase

in bf1, turn down Post Process Quality and your fps will increase significantly. Real Time/Screen Space Reflections are removed but they did not look good anyway.

About 50% is scripted, namely what is said when graphs are shown. Other videos are entirely unscripted, and a few are entirely scripted. Just depends on the content and my comfort level with it.

Greg. I thought about buying a GTX 1070 last month. But some unexpected things happened and i'm not able to buy a GTX 1070 anymore. But i might be able to buy a RX480 or GTX 1060. I have a 1080@60Hz Screen. Mainly i thought about buying the 1070 so i could run games at Ultra Preset and Max Filters and still holds the 60 FPS for a year or so. But my current budget is limited for the 1060 or the RX 480 for the 1080@FPS. My question is, do you think i can run 1080@60FPS Ultra Preset and reach the 60FPS mark for sometime? Once i'm more stable, i'll be able to upgrade for the upcoming VEGA 10 GPU. In this scenario, would you recommend me buying the RX 480/GTX 1060?

Hello! I thought that I would maybe buy HTC Vive in the end of this year for the half of its price. Can you say is it worth buying since you have a HTC Vive? I have tried it and its cool, but i'm not sure is there enough games for it and would it come little bit boring after some time? Also could I tape the receivers to the wall with some strong double sided tape?

Hey Salazar Studio love you vids! I'm about to start buying the parts for my first gaming pc this weekend and I was wondering what you think is a better choice for a $1000 USD budget for parts, monitor(Already have a 144hrz freesync monitor set out for csgo), and windows os(I'm just buying a key of it on kinguin). Would you recommend a rx 470 4gb or 8gb or an rx 480 4gb or 8gb? I would prefer to go team red as freesync is cheap also I don't appreciate Nvidia's anti consumer policies

Nice and informative video :) This card is the top for my budget (along with the GTX 1060 3GB version). I have a question: I have a Chieftec GPS-450A8 450W PSU, but the recommended for this card is 500W. Can my PSU handle with this, or should I buy the 1060? They're around the same price (~220$ in Hungary, yeah...) and I know, the 1060 is stronger, but this have 4 gigabyte of vram, so I'm not sure. Btw, I will pair it with an FX-6300 and 8GB DDR3. I want to upgrade it in the future, but now I just want a video card, because the integrated is kinda... well... Good for youtube and stuffs like that I guess.

hey salazar bro, i installed forza 6 apex on my pc, but it runs on locked 30 fps, even if i play is on medium setting it stays at 30, is there any settings that can unlock fps?? my rig spec is core i7 4770k, r9 390, 16gb ram TIA

there is a framerate target that you have to set at unlocked in the graphics settings. it may be under vsync options.

The link in the description is wrong cause the xfx gpu with 1226mhz as shown in the video is the RS edition. You linked the black edition that has 1256mhz

It makes sense to wait, even if your PC isn't based on those high CPUs: if ZEN pushes Intel high-end CPU prices to lower prices, mid range CPUs will get lower prices too.
