Thank you so much... I'm riveted by the content, and not even sure why. In the 1970s my grandmother's house burned down while she had renters. Four or five years later, my dad took us on a camping trip to visit the ruins --- at the end of an impassible 4 mile road. .... and the second day my sister, brother, and I were digging all around the burned out house that was built in the 1880s. The detritus left behind by a fire was matched in awe intensity by the other things we found in trash pits.

I watched another bottles dig video last night. I have now an even greater admiration for your channel. It sails high above this one and probably most. Your degree of expertise, professionalism and over all care is way above the norm. Their's was ill lit, poorly executed, careless and uninformative. They love what they do, but it came off as well, poor. Continue to soar high, your the greatest!! You leave that other channel in the dirt. I wouldn't be surprised if this is true as well for other channels God bless your work, and thank you for your wonderful channel!!!💖💖💖

@@thecatsmeowfromny they definitely aren't as good, but I try to watch and learn about bottles earlier than some in ND. The styles, etc. Of course, I have to research because they don't give any info. except year. The colors and crudeness of bottles from say, the 1830s are interesting. That said, they seem to have no respect for bottle handling and plates!! 😳😳😳 they are boring...I can see why you lost interest!! We are spoiled!!😁😁😁

The deep green piece that you pulled out, looked like part of a lamp shade, and the ball thing with liquid in it, looked like a Fire Extinguisher. The contents are some chemical that would help put the fire out. It seemed a bit smaller than the ones I've seen, but it sure looked like one. If you break it, don't get the contents on you, or inhale any fumes. It might be dangerous. I'm not sure.
@lpconserv6074
@lpconserv6074 7 ай бұрын
The chemical inside the glass ball is Carbon Tetra Chloride. Deemed hazardous, so don't break it indoors. Even though back in the day, that was exactly how it was used. It is very heavy as it turns to a gas and blocks the air from the flames so they go out.
@MrGlenferd
@MrGlenferd 4 ай бұрын
I think it might be an extinguisher as well. If it is it would have contained carbon tetracloride. Deadly if you breathe it in.

I was wondering if the globe is a fire grenade. It makes you wonder how sad it was for someone to have to pitch a nice porcelain piece that may have been a prized possession, or a wedding gift. The amount of that blue transfer ware indicates it was maybe replaced with something newer and they just chucked all the old stuff.

Unfortunately in another 120 years all we'll find is crumpled up plastic coke bottles, okay there will de booze bottles and crumpled up drug store blister packs. Over here and in England the place were people dumped their stuff before landfill sites are called middens. Great stuff enjoyed that thanks.

The ball with liquid looks like an early fire extinguisher. The ones I've seen have a metal ring they sit in usually attached to the wall in the kitchen. You would throw the glass ball into the fire with enough force to break the glass and release the liquid. Im not sure what chemical was used though.
