What a shame that this speech got merely 1.560 clicks. I frequently turn back to it, as it is so humble and beautiful. Horror of war is all too often forgotten much too quickly.

We have been to many of the Dedication Day Ceremonies over the years from the time they were newborns right up to this year when our oldest is headed off to college. This speech remains the gold standard for Dedication Day speeches. Beautifully spoken and delivered as stated below, but also written wonderfully and immensely thought provoking. Well done Mr. Lang!!!

I am actually disappointed in Stephan as well as Jeff Daniels nowadays...they have jumped on the pandering bandwagon rather than stick with the integrity of history. I haven't seen anything come from Robert Duvall or Tom Berenger though.
