It tastes like ham because possibly nitrites were added to the marinade. It preserves the freshness of the duck but one of the results is that a ham flavor is imparted into the meat. Same exact result when you use it on plain pork chops with salt and sugar. After a couple of days it tastes exactly like a piece of ham.

Food in Taiwan can be too sweet at times but I don't think its ever bland - just trying to stick to the original flavor of the food. Maybe I haven't had enough. Last time I was there the food was almost all amazing

Yeah I had duck from one of our local Asian fusion restaurants in the Niagara Region Ontario Canada. It tasted more like smoky ham/bacon. I was completely shocked!!! I really like the duck ilat the Pacific Mall Markham Ontario. Kicking myself in the butt for moving so far away. 😅

Did you get brain freeze at all? I'd get brain freeze. lol. Everything looked good. Again, if you would please put subtitles on the videos when you or someone else speaks foreign language as most of us don't understand. Great job, your friends really were so fast.
