I know this is crazy but I think Jedi Survivor is literally Bloodborn meets Control!!

Especially Surge 2, that is an amazing game.

Lords of the Fallen was a huge disappointment for me. Lies of P blew me away.

I played Lies of P first and was so impressed with how fucking good it was and then got Lords of the Fallen for free from a friend and STILL was disappointed with how bland it is (not to mention confusing with that two world stuff.... which is cool in concept but so poorly done in terms of execution as it actively punishes exploration while in that world)

Probably not but I wouldnt want that any way. Resident evil is in its own genre and I appreciate what it is. I do like Souls like games but Sometimes I like a break too.

Honestly? The original ones with those clunky movements and controls were way, way worse than Dark Souls, or even Demon's Souls ever were for me.

Resident Evil is a pretty challenging series tbh, and the games can get straight-up cruel on the harder settings

Sometimes you just gotta buy it. Don't get me wrong I've done plenty of Argh Matey, but certain games just deserve the purchase. Elden Ring I first sampled, but after 30 hours I decided to support the developer. Got it on sale too!

Jedi: Fallen Order

I just don't understand why these companies that make these cool rpgs don't include modes for those of us that are older, have disabilities and/or just want an enjoyable game with little to no frustration. 😔

Steel-rising, even on the normal difficulty, is by far the easiest souls-like I've played. I've almost finished the game and I think I've died fewer than 10 times. If it's still too much, you can turn down enemy damage or how much stamina you use.

If you want an enjoyable game with little frustration, there are literally, and I mean this in the most literal term: MILLIONS of other games to play :) Gaming is a luxury. Not a necessity. For instance: I'm not asking for Animal Crossing games to add a "hard mode". I know the games are not made for me, it's made for people that enjoy that world and those mechanics and love relaxing while maintaining an island. It's okay for a game to just not be for you. There's no reason to demand games to change just because YOU want them to, that's selfish. If you want to enjoy the story of a particular game, KZfaq and Twitch exist with thousands of playthroughs of these types of games. Lastly: These games aren't hard. They have a specific challenge and all they ask is that you take the time and energy to invest in learning to over come that challenge. The only one holding back is yourself. People have finished Souls-like games blind, with their feet, with controllers that aren't made for them like the Donkey Kong Bongos, and even with Bananas hooked up to a Raspberry PI If you don't want to learn to overcome that challenge, that's fine! Nobody's forcing you to. Just let the game be and enjoy one of the other million games out there that does have what you specifically want in a game :)

Timed parries are literally the BEST way to engage in such systems, as they require ACTIVE aggressive input, not just scurrying away or hiding behind a shield. It gives you a completely different mindset while playing the boss, taking way more risks instead of playing passive.

@@blinkachu5275 As opposed to timing not being a critical component in the first place. You can have games be difficult through the focus on more mindful elements like strategy or buildcraft. Most Soulslikes are essentially rhythm games, it's rote and overdone and not something I particularly enjoyed to begin with. Though something more focused on dodging and general mobility would also be fun, luckily that's already something that exists with Nioh and Wo Long (games which also feature the only interesting use in timing in any of these soulslikes, since Ki Bursts enable consistent aggressive play and are also entirely within your own control, so you don't have to PASSIVELY wait for something to respond to... which to note timed parries are NOT an "active aggressive input", because they require you to respond to what the enemy does which requires you to WAIT). What magic systems in Soulslikes give you though are a more robust suite of options to control the situation, so you don't always feel like you're just responding. It's what makes the Jedi Order/Survivor duology so much more engaging to me than most Soulslikes, and it's really only scratching the surface of a Souslike that isn't focused on melee combat.
