Lions, and tigers, and bears… oh my! There are plenty of animals out in the world that are best viewed from afar. Teeth, claws, deadly venom, and jaws strong enough to break bones clean in half are enough to make you want to stay home today. But there are countless beasts, all long extinct, that would put these kinds of animals to shame. An ape that rivals King Kong, a snake as long as a train car, and a bird using its beak like an ax, are just some of the creatures that once roamed the Earth. Join us for today’s video, as we countdown the top 15 animals that were scarier than the dinosaurs.

@@rolandsv8 A short ton is the US version of a ton which is 2,000 pounds. Compared to the English version of a ton, also known as a long ton, which is 2,240 pounds. There is also a metric ton which is 1,000 kilograms, or approximately 2,204.6 pounds.

This is a giant fudge. You're comparing aquatic animals to Dinosaurs, none of which were fully aquatic. Compare a Jaekelopterus against a Mesosaurus and I know which one I'd rather square up against. Meganeura vs Quetzalcoatlus? Smilodon vs T-Rex? Even if we expand beyond Dinosaurs to Marine Reptiles and Pterosaurs, the one and only on your list that can even compete is Dunkleosteus, and the only land based creature that even competes with a Dinosaur is Deinosuchus.
