Studied classical guitar for 3 years in HS back in the 80s did the segovia scales every day all fingerings, it helped increase my dexterity and ability to navigate the entire fretboard, also taught me his own exercises aside from the regular scales...I'm a firm believer in those, combined with what you teach on your channel with some serious practice daily one would progress incredibly in 6 months time. Would have been a godsend to have an instructor like you in my town back in 1982

This is awesome! I'm battling my way back, working my ass off to overcome all these challenges...as times my fingers feel like chunky fat sausages that aren't fully connected to my body...so learning new exercises and expanding this...is awesome 😎 need to get my dexterity back ... get my coordination back so that I can play guitar standing up and walking...ugh. Anyway, appreciate videos like this! Thank you
@philrisser6853

this is in my Excercises each morning. id like more videos like this. i love little repetetive licks with alternate picking and legato intertwined a little bit. i hope to see another video with nice looping licks that when played fast sound like magic. your work is appreciated Huge. i hope to seee an exercise going up the scale and turning around and going back down the scale so theres no stops but a constant up and down scale style . im trying to get better with my alternate picking and legato and im trying to find great non-boring excericses like this. Keep rocking brother. i love your style and is impressive seeing your accuracy. when i solo its hard for me to break out of barring 2 strings at the same time if the riff requires your index finger on the same fret of both strings. when i go up the pentatonic pattern i find il have my index finger on a few strings instead of doing it string by string and it ends up leaving too much sustain with this bad habit i created.

Another video done and dusted. 15 licks. Took a while but in the bag like many more of yours bud. You're right about John Petrucci chromatic runs. I bought his VHS video 20 years ago for around $100 mind you and spent years going over and over his runs trying to get them clearly at 170- 200bpm 🤷 The pentatonic licks you teach however are so useful and work so well with online backing tracks. (Obviously to those who know their basic theory) The minor pentatonic backings are the ones I normally play to and yeah.... Half the time now I can play though a whole backing track mixing in a heap of the licks you teach mixed in with my on the spot licks and it flows great, with barely a bum note now!! (Helps knowing the modes) Can't tell you how grateful I am for all your videos!! (Been learning from you for nearly 2 years now while out of work from an injury so yeah..... your videos have been really handy Thank again mate 👌

My biggest problem when it comes to electric guitars is the flailing, probably stemming from the fact I learned all my hammer-ons and pull-offs on acoustic guitars, and it takes so much more "umpf" to make them sound. I'm finding it very hard to lose the bad habit since I'm still mostly playing acoustic guitars. I'd love to learn this stuff but I'm not sure I can. Great content. Thanks.
@CameronCooper
@CameronCooper Жыл бұрын
You can sort it. It's a matter of playing electric more and adapting to it. You know what the problem is, just have to sit down and solve it. You can do it. Don't be defeatist
