You mentioned about AT&T locking the phones for the whole 36 months Verizon may be the most expensive but Verizon automatically unlocks their phones after 60 days from activation so you could pay it off and get out after two months. And this goes for ALL of their Verizon post paid, prepaid, Visible, etc.

Great call! You wouldn't really be getting a deal though if you pay off the phone. Better to just trade in through Apple and buy the iPhone unlocked, or sell your old phone on a website like Swappa.

As far as I can tell they unlock the phones after 60 days even if still being financed. This means that if you need a backup line running on AT&T in areas where Verizon has issues you can run that eSIM alongside the Verizon eSIM.

So if you need to add a tablet it might be handy when adding to a plan especially if it is an iPad that you can pop a Verizon Prepaid data sim in an area where AT&T does not work like in the middle of the Las Vegas Sphere assuming they still do not lock the tablets.

That's because the big wireless companies make their money back on the service. At $70-90 a month that's $2520 to $3240 over 36 months compared to the $25 a month which is $900. So there's the cost of your iPhone 15 Pro. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

The deals make sense based on how much you are getting for a trade in, how much you originally paid for the phone your trading in and how long you plan to keep the phone. When transferring from Sprint to T-Mobile I was able to get a BOGO iPhone 12 with a family member (so the phone ended up costing about $450) and I just upgraded to the iPhone 15 pro and will be receiving $830 off which means I will be "making" money from my iPhone 12. I'm generally not one to upgrade so hastily but with a good deal and USB-c connectivity its definitely worth the upgrade.

Buying your phone unlocked is definitely a smart move. I'm not necessarily against the financing deals though. Many of my friends keep their phones for 3 years, and getting the device for free with a trade-in may not be a bad move for them.

Great video, The at&t deal also says that the credit doesn't kick in for 3 months so you would be pay regular finance price until it does. I'm thinking about trading in my iPhone 11 and when I fill everything out it on the apple website it says they're giving me $830 but the monthly is $23 a month (should be $10.25). So I clicked details and it says they're only giving $350 for the iPhone 11, even though the iPhone 11 is stated under there $830 deal. Any thoughts?

Xfinity also has 1 yr off the monthly payment for the 2nd line. So additional 360 off. I traded an older iPhone and they took my XS and XR for $600 each. That’s better than trading in Apple. Good review bro! That’s alot of math.

This was very useful and well done. I just wish it was available at launch date or sooner. I just brought mine with the Apple trade-in on my 11 pro. I don’t have a contract, sure, but I will be with Verizon anyway because I don’t jump carriers (old dude here). And I can never understand the trade in deals they offer and am too busy at work to figure it out and I just plain don’t trust them. I find you much easier to trust on this. Anyway, keep up the good work.

According to your math… Xfinity is the way to go always if you’re a comcast customer. Plus it’s on the Verizon network as a virtual mobile operator. Dude it’s only $30 per line when you have two or more lines… common that’s $120 for the plan plus whatever you need for the phones. Also while you had this video up Xfinity was offering a buy 1 line get one free for 12 months promo. That promo expired on the 19th, but as of the 1st its back. ALLLLLSO…. If you have Xfinity internet if your reup your internet contract then open a new Xfinity mobile line within 60 days you get $20 off your monthly internet bill.

I bought my Galaxy S-22 and Samsung offered free interest and pay $ 34 per month for 3 years with no contract with any operators. Now I see you have to pay 7.99% interest for monthly pay from Apple. if the interest was 1% or 2% probably bought the iPhone Pro Max 15.

Excellent breakdown. I don't want an iphone15 because I don't want to get mugged are carjacked for some coveted phone. This is why I've kept my iphone 8 for all these years: no one wants it & it still works and charges great. Sad that crime has been rising since 2019 the way it has. In the SF Bay area, criminals will kill you for a new iphone or mac computer: not both EITHER one. I don't mean in "the hood" either, the criminals have gotten bolder and they walk right into Starbucks in broad daylight in the wealthiest neighborhoods. These are teenage/very early 20s males and they do not care. Give me a working, old phone w/excellent battery life, a good camera, and a solid pre-paid plan.

I’m glad I just bought my phone outright and got the mint mobile unlimited plan over the long run I’ll save money since it’s just me.

@@antoinegeorge4287 it's unlimited enough for most folks. My play is to have Mint and Visible both on my iPhone and do data switching. The $20/month Mint and the $25 Visible plan on my iPhone gives me enough "unlimited data" to get the job done. Not to mention I'm carrying two services in my pocket. My work phone is AT&T so I have all three covered. I have AT&T and Visible on my wife's phone. Probably move her to one of the MVNOs soon. Getting the last adult child off the payroll in about a year, so I can port out both numbers from ATT. Of course, my phone play is the used iPhone 13 Pro I picked up on FB marketplace from someone who was an early 15 pro adopter. Wife's 15 PM should be in in about a week if Apple is to be believed. Financed on the Apple Card, no interest for 24 months, paid in monthly installments on the card.

Agreed! Unlocked from Apple and on Visible+ $35. Couldn’t imagine paying almost $100 for a single line for 36 months. Just for Verizon to change to a new plan that cost more every single year

So theoretically speaking…… I can get the boost infinite deal Get 1000 off a 15 Pro Max Pay off whatever is remaining on the phone itself, cancel the service and then get a cheaper plan with another carrier once it’s unlocked. Effectively giving me a cheaper phone and a cheaper plan. Nice.

You get a discount on the cell phone plan when you buy outright! Just no discount on the phone. Still ends up saving you a lot of money though!

Stetson, you keep missing the point; in this economy it's all about how much $ ppl have to plunk down up front. Most ppl can't just buy one outright so it doesn't matter as much the overall savings. Like I went to dish since lowest upfront cost. I have a tmo biz plan and they wanted $599 down for the 15 pro max I wanted. Deal breaker. ... My son had a trade in so his worked out but not ideal.

Catch with t-mobile's trade in is that they take the "fair market value" of the phone upfront. Let's say you do a 13 pro max and the "fair market value" is considered $365, You get $365 as an instant credit to apply in store or to apply directly to the phone bill. The remainder is applied as a monthly credit on your device's finance.
